Abstract: A visible communication method in a visible light communication system is provided to give the visibility to a link by applying the IrLAP(IrDA Link Access Protocol) of an infrared communication system. A responder(612) desiring communication outputs a visible frame at a desired time(614). An initiator(610) desiring communication broadcasts a D-XID(Discovery eXchange station IDentification) frame to transmit it repetitively as much as preset times(616,618,622). The responder recognizes the D-XID frame received from the initiator, and then transmits D-R-XID as a response frame to the D-XID frame if it desires the communication(620). The initiator receives the D-R-XID frame from the responder, prepares a discovery log, notifies a service application that the responder exists, and then is changed into a connection set-up mode.

Abstract: A re-connection method of a peripheral device interface using the visible light communication is provided to enable a user to recognize connection release by using the characteristics of the visible light communication in case a communication link is canceled between the first device and the second device. In case an ACK message does not reach by the inconsistency of a communication link between transmitting and receiving units by while two devices is performing data communication(410-430), the first device waits as much as an RTT(Round Trip Time), and then performs re-transmission(440). If the communication link between the first and second devices is canceled, the first device transmits a connection release warning and instructing message to the second device(450). The second device confirms the warning instruction light, grasps that the connection of the communication link is canceled, and then arranges the communication link between the devices to receive an R-XID message from the first device(460). Abstract: A composite passive optical network is provided to remarkably reduce the number of necessary upstream light sources by making ONUs(Optical Network Units) create subcarriers and transmit them to an RN(Remote Node) through electrical lines and making the RN modulate the subcarriers and create upstream optical signals. A composite passive optical network consists of a CO(Central Office)(210), an RN(250), and a plurality of ONU groups(300-1-300-N). The CO(210) outputs downstream optical signals. The RN(250) executes wavelength division demultiplexing for the downstream optical signals inputted from the CO(210), performs power splitting for each multiplexed signal, and creates a plurality of downstream signals. Then, the RN(250) outputs the created downstream signals to the ONUs of each associated group(300-1-300-N), receives upstream subcarriers from the ONUs of each group(300-1-300-N), modulates them into upstream optical signals, and outputs them to the CO(210). Each of the ONUs of each group(300-1-300-N) obtains the downstream subcarriers of each associated group from an associated downstream optical signal inputted from the RN(250), filters the obtained downstream subcarriers, obtains an associated downstream subcarrier, and outputs an associated upstream subcarrier to the RN(250).
