Abstract: A method for generating a visible signal for a data transmission frame and an apparatus therefor are provided to perform high-speed communication with the small power and low cost in the visible light communication network having a limited distance. An apparatus for generating a visible signal receives specific data consisting of a plurality of frames from a transmission side(510). A VLC controller converts an RSSI signal measured from the transmission side into a digital signal(512), and checks RSSI signals of each corresponding frame whenever each frame of the specific data is sequentially received from the transmission side(514). The corresponding RSSI value of a received frame is a preset critical value or greater(516), the VLC controller produces visible signals differentiated according to each RSSI state, and then transmits the generated signals to the transmission side(518).

Abstract: A WDM(Wavelength-Division-Multiplexed)-PON(Passive Optical Network) system using a single-polarization optical fiber is provided to reduce noise in light injection by using an injection light linearly polarized in a direction preferred by a light injection type light source by using a polarization maintaining optical fiber between a wavelength multiplexing filter and a light transmitting unit, and improve transmission characteristics. Wavelength division filters(130) divide wavelength inputted from a broadband injection light source. Light transmission units(110) directly modulate data to be transmitted by using the broadband injection light source inputted through the wavelength division filters(130) and re-transmit it through the wavelength division filters(130). Polarization maintaining optical fibers(500) are connected between the wavelength division filters(130) and the light transmitting units(110).

Abstract: A bidirectional add/drop multiplexer is provided to suppress a relative intensive noise generated from a bidirectional system by using cross-talk characteristics of an interleave and light waveguide. A first input/output unit(210) inputs a first optical signal(201) which plural odd channels are multiplexed and outputs a second optical signal(202) which plural even channels are multiplexed. A second input/output unit(220) outputs the added or dropped first optical signal(201) and inputs the second optical signal(202). A light waveguide lattice(240) has first and second terminals composed of plural ports, and multiplexes the added or dropped odd channels of the first optical signal and the added or dropped even channels of the second optical signal, and then outputs them to the second input/output unit and the first input/output unit, respectively. An optical coupler(230) amplifies the first and second optical signals input from the first and second input/output units, and then outputs them to the first and second terminals, respectively.

Abstract: A two-way PON(Passive Optical Network) is provided to be easily manufactured, and to use a broadband light source of a linearly polarized component, thus coupling loss can be minimized while the efficiency of wavelength-locking is increased. A PON(200) comprises the followings. A CO(Central Office)(210) generates uplink/downlink beams having linearly polarized modes, and generates multiplexed downlink optical signals, which are wavelength-locked by the downlink beam and have linearly polarized modes orthogonal to the downlink beam. An RN(Remote Node)(230) demultiplexes the downlink optical signals, and multiplexes the uplink optical signals to output the multiplexed signals to the CO(210). Plural ONUs(Optical Network Units)(240-1~240-N) detect downlink optical signals of the corresponding wavelength, and generate the respective uplink optical signals wavelength-locked by the uplink beam of the corresponding wavelength to output the generated signals to the RN(230). The first optical line(201) links the CO(210) with the RN(230).
