    Abstract: PURPOSE: An oxidation catalyst for diesel engine is provided, which can inhibit discharge of sulfate(SO4¬2-) to atmosphere by endowing suppressing capability of sulfur trioxide production to the diesel oxidation catalyst, can simplify the coating process owing to the compatibility of the diesel oxidation catalyst to cocatalyst used for diesel oxidation catalyst and is excellent in pollutant emission such as carbon monoxide compared with other catalyst such as oxidized vanadium. CONSTITUTION: The oxidation catalyst for diesel engine is characterized in that the catalyst comprises oxidized matter of oxidized nickel(NiO) series as catalyst carrier and platinum as metal catalyst, the oxidized nickel being obtained by heating at oxygen atmosphere.
