Abstract: PURPOSE: An EGR valve using shape memory alloy is provided to accurately control the feedback quantity of EGR gas corresponding to operational conditions of an engine. CONSTITUTION: A valve housing(1) has an inside divided into a driving chamber(2) and a valve chamber(3), and has an inlet(4) and an outlet(5) on one side and a bottom surface of the valve chamber. A negative plate(6) and a positive plate(7) are formed at upper and lower parts of the driving chamber. A moving spring(8) is made of a shape memory alloy, wherein an upper end and a lower end of the moving spring are combined with the negative plate and the positive plate respectively. The moving spring contracts and expands according to the current quantity supplied through the negative plate and the positive plate. An insulating plate(9) is combined with a lower part of the negative plate. A valve member(20) has a valve body(22) for selectively opening and closing the outlet, and a combination part(23) to be combined with a bottom surface of the insulating plate so that the valve member opens and closes the outlet according to the contraction degree of the moving spring.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A variable induction system of an engine is provided to appropriately change an intake state of an engine according to a running speed and a load of the engine without a valve equipment. CONSTITUTION: A variable induction system is formed of an SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) actuator(1) replacing a part of an intake pipe of an engine, and a control unit controlling a current supplied to the SMA actuator according to a load and an RPM of the engine. The SMA actuator is formed of a shape memory alloy formed in helical shape, and extracting and contracting in a longitudinal direction, and a bellows pipe having the shape memory alloy inside for extracting and contracting according to the expansion and contraction of the shape memory alloy in the longitudinal direction. The control unit includes an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,7) of the engine, and a current amplifier(9) supplying a current to the SMA actuator.
