    Abstract: PURPOSE: A hood latch assembly for protecting the pedestrian is provided to open the hood through an open lever by changing the position of the open lever according to the open of the hood. CONSTITUTION: A hood latch assembly for protecting the pedestrian comprises a main latch(110), a safety hook(140), an open lever(130), and an auxiliary latch(120). The main latch firstly locks and unlocks a hood shaft. The safety hook secondly locks the hood shaft and is popped-up in the firstly unlocking by the main latch. The safety hook is passed through the second rotary shaft and is rotatably coupled. The open lever is coupled with a lever coupling portion(141) which is extended-formed in one side of the safety hook. The auxiliary latch moves the open lever around a first rotary shaft(131) to the predetermined position which is able to manipulate the hood open.

A hitching protrusion(140) is protruded from the case and limits the rotation of the wheel. A switch is on/off according to the rotation of the wheel. An impact absorbing unit is formed in one side of the wheel to relieve the contact impact for the hitching protrusion. A cut part is formed in the wheel. The hitching protrusion is arranged in the rotation orbit of the wheel to maintain the contact sate with the rotating wheel. The impact absorbing unit includes a first impact absorbing unit and a second impact absorbing unit. The switch includes a push protrusion.
