Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and a method for displaying surrounding images of a vehicle are provided to significantly reduce the possibility of collision with an obstacle by enhancing abilities for recognizing the obstacle through displaying distance from the obstacle and position of the obstacle as an icon. CONSTITUTION: A device for displaying surrounding images of a vehicle comprises an image acquisition unit(10), an obstacle detector(20), a distance calculator(30), a control unit(40), and a display unit(50). The image acquisition unit obtains the surrounding image of the vehicle. The obstacle detector detects an obstacle surrounding of the vehicle. The distance calculator calculates separation distance from the obstacle by detecting the obstacle with the obstacle detector. The control unit controls the display unit to display an icon displaying the position of the obstacle and the separation distance. The display unit displays a screen by the control unit.
