Abstract: An adaptive seat support system and a control method for the adaptive seat support system are provided to give appropriate support to the running environment of a vehicle with air cushions using the sensed results of sensors. The adaptive seat support system for giving curved road-adaptive support and road surface-adaptive support contains many air cushions placed on each spot of a seat, an air pressure control unit composed of a valve and a pump to control air pressure supplied to each air cushion, sensors sensing the running environment of a vehicle and supplying sense signals to an ECU, and an ECU(engine control unit) setting the pressure control of each air cushion by the air pressure control unit using the sensor data supplied from the sensors and supplying the appropriate control signals. The control method for an adaptive seat support system comprises the steps of measuring vertical acceleration, vehicle speed and steering angle using sash sensors such as ESP and ECS, giving suitable support for a road surface where a vehicle is running using the vertical acceleration information and giving suitable support according to horizontal acceleration added on passengers while cornering using the measured vehicle speed and steering angle information.
