    Abstract: Techniques that facilitate pairing of wireless devices (102, 104) with other wireless devices are disclosed. Once paired, the wireless devices can exchange data in a wireless manner. According to one embodiment, a pairing process can be secured through use of physical proximity (304), or even physical connection, of wireless devices to be paired. According to another embodiment, user actions to provoke or perform, pairing can be reduced or eliminated. According to still another embodiment, a wireless device being paired can be configured using configuration information provided from another wireless device being paired.

    Abstract: A Universal Serial Bus socket-equipped arrangement (USB-SEA) configured for mating with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) plug (200) having a plug metal housing (202) and an aperture (208) disposed in the plug metal housing. The arrangement includes a plug-receiving cavity (226) configured to receive the USB plug. The arrangement further includes a spring-loaded mechanism disposed within the plug-receiving cavity. The spring-loaded mechanism (224) is biased toward an interior region of the plug-receiving cavity. The spring-loaded mechanism is also configured to slide along the connector metal housing of the USB plug when the USB plug is inserted into the plug-receiving cavity and to movably mate with the aperture disposed in the plug metal housing when the USB plug is in a terminal mating position with the USB socket assembly. The spring-loaded mechanism represents one of a spring-loaded ball and a spring-loaded pin.

    Abstract: An electrical connector for coupling a portable media player 200 (such as an MP3 player) to a host or personal computer 202, the connector comprising; an axial plug having a plurality of axially oriented and spatially separated contacts for connection with the media player; and a plug and play connector for connection with the computer. The axial plug has first and second data contacts, a power contact and a ground contact. The electrical connector may further comprise a base 400 having a recessed opening in which the media player can be received so that the axial plug [fig. 16A, 422] can engage an integrated connector port on the portable media player. The base may also comprise a guide post [fig. 16A, 430] to facilitate insertion of the portable media player within the opening. The plug and play connector may be USB or Firewire connector. The axial plug and plug and play connector may be connected via a cable.
