    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a metal surface treated to have a distinct cosmetic appearance such as an integral layer that is glossy.SOLUTION: A surface treatment may include polishing a metal surface, texturing the polished metal surface, polishing the textured surface, followed by anodizing the surface, and then polishing the anodized surface. The metal surface may also be dyed to impart a rich color to the metal surface. A metal part may be provided in the form of a preformed sheet or may be extruded so that the metal part is formed in a desired shape. A variety of metals and metal alloys may be treated that include, but are not limited to, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and alloys thereof. The surface treatment may be applied to electronic devices.
