    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the leakage of the liq. dialyzate by using a multi-layered plastic material obtained by laminating a filmy structure having excellent flexibility on both surfaces of a filmy structure having excellent heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A film 2 such as polyethylene and polyester having excellent heat resistance is used as the intermediate layer and the soft film 3 of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, etc., having excellent flexibility and having the m.p. lower than the dialysis temp. is laminated on both surfaces of the film 2 as the surface layers to constitute a gasket 1 for an electrodialyzing vessel. Since the film layer 3 is softened and a part of the film is packed in a recess on the surface of an ion-exchange membrane, the adhesion between the membrane and the gasket is increased and the leakage of the liq. dialyzate is reduced. The thickness of the film layer 2 is regulated to >=0.1mm and the thickness of the film layer 3 is appropriately controlled to 0.02-0.2mm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an enhanced agitation effect even when the opening of the mesh is enlarged, and to reduce the stagnation of air bubbles by providing a protrusion on a strand on the surface side wherein each strand for dialysis crosses and is bonded. CONSTITUTION:A reticular spacer for dialysis having 5-14mm. opening, consisting of a large number of the first strands (a) made of plastics which lie in a plane and are arranged in parallel with each other at regular intervals and the second strands (b) which lie in a plane and are arranged crosswise at regular intervals on the plane of the first strands. 1-5 protrusions (n) per one mesh are provided to the strands on the surface side wherein the first and the second strands cross each other and are bonded to each other. The spacer can be molded with a metallic mold, or manufactured by adhering the strand having the protrusions after molding or by perforating at regular intervals after a reticular material having no protrusions is manufactured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent scale components from accumulating in ion exchange membrane, by, in manufacture of Cl2 used in treatment of drinking water or sewage through electrolysis of brine in a two-chamber type electrolytic cell with cation exchange membrane, drawing off NaOH soln. contained in the cell immediately after the current is turned off at the time of regular suspension of the electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:In production of NaOH or Cl2, for use in treatment of drinking water or sewage, by charging impure brine contg. 0.03-0.2 g. total quantity of scale components Ca , Mg , per 100g. NaCl to a two-chamber type electrolytic cell with cation exchange membrane, the electrolytic cell is operated as follows in order to dissolve and remove the scale component, and a small amount of scale deposited, in the membrane: At the time of regular suspension of electrolysis, NaOH soln. is drawn off immediately after the turn off of the current, hereafter aq. NaCl soln. of pH 1-4 is circulated through the anodic chamber for 2-60 min. Regular suspension of the electrolysis is conducted once in 48-72 hr. and the circulation of brine is carried out for 2-60 min.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an anionic living polymer which can be conducted repeatedly without causing gel formation and can provide a block copolymer having excellent mechanical properties. SOLUTION: In repeatedly producing either a block copolymer consisting of at least one conjugated diene polymer block and at least one vinylaromatic hydrocarbon polymer block or a block copolymer composed of at least two conjugated diene polymer blocks having different vinyl contents, obtained by performing anionic living polymerization in the presence of a polymerization accelerator in the same polymerizer, 1) the catalyst is added to the system, when the monomer is present in an amount at least equimolar to that of the catalyst, and 2) the addition of the polymerization catalyst is accomplished before 1/4 of the amount of the monomer which constitutes the first block has been added to the system.
