Abstract: The alkoxylate mixtures contain alkoxylates of general formula (I): C5H11CH(C3H7)CH20(A)n(B)m H, wherein: A represents ethyleneoxy; B represents C3-10-alkyleneoxy or mixtures thereof, whereby groups (A) and (B) can exist in a statistically distributed or alternating form or in the form of two or more blocks arranged in any order; n represents a number ranging from 0 to 30; m represents a number ranging from 0 to 20, and; n + m is equal to at least 1. The mixture contains 70 to 99 wt. % of alkoxylates Al in which C5H11 represents n-C5H11, and contains 1 to 30 wt. % of alkoxylates A2 in which C5H11 represents C2H5CH(CH3)CH2 and/or CH3CH(CH3)CH2CH2.

Abstract: A process is described for purifying polyalkylene glycols obtained by adding alkylene oxide to alkylene glycol, in which, after addition is complete, the resultant polyalkylene glycol is treated at a pH of >7 with a bleaching agent selected from the group consisting of peroxides, peracids, percarbonates, perborates, peroxodisulfates or oxygen, in each case with or without addition of a bleaching activator. The process is suitable in particular for preparing polyethylene glycol having molar weights from 196 to 203 g/mol which meets requirements of pharmacopeias.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de poliéteroles de alcoholes polivalentes, de la fórmula (I), en la que R1 y R2 significan, independientemente entre sí, hidrógeno, alquilo con 1 a 10 átomos de carbono, hidroxialquilo con 1 a 10 átomos de carbono, carboxilo o alcoxicarbonilo con 1 a 4 átomos de carbono, mediante reacción de un óxido de alquileno con el alcohol polivalente correspondiente en presencia de una base así como, en caso dado, en presencia de un disolvente, caracterizado porque el alcohol polivalente empleado ha sido obtenido mediante reacción de un aldehído de la fórmula (II) con formaldehído y a continuación transformación del grupo aldehído en un grupo hidroxi mediante hidrogenación catalítica y presenta un contenido en formaldehídoacetal por debajo de 500 ppm.

Abstract: A method for the purification of polyalkylene glycols (I) obtained by addition of alkylene oxides to alkylene glycols involves treating the crude product at pH above 7 with a bleaching agent selected from organic and inorganic peroxides, per-acids, percarbonates, perborates, persulfates and oxygen, in each case with the optional addition of a bleach activator. An independent claim is also included for pharmaceutically-active compounds, foods or food supplements containing (I) purified by the above method.
