The invention relates to compounds of general formula X-Y-L-(W-Z)n, in which a hydrophobic molecular part and a hydrophilic molecular part are coupled to one another, and in which: X represents a terminal group that can create strong chemical and/or physical interactions with metal surfaces; Y represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group; L represents a coupling group; W represents a hydrophilic group, and; Z represents another terminal group. The invention also relates to preparations containing these compounds, and to the use of these compounds for treating metal surfaces.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing N-phosphonomethylglycine from an aqueous mixture containing N-phosphonomethylglycine, ammonium halogenides and alkali halides or earth alkali halides and optionally, organic impurities in a dissolved form. According to the invention, (a) the pH-value of the mixture is regulated to a value of 2 - 8, (b) the mixture is separated by means of a selective nano-filtration membrane, to obtain a retentate rich in N-phosphonomethylglycine and poor in halogenides and a permeate rich in halogenides and poor in N-phosphonomethylglycine and (c) the N-phosphonmethylglycine is prepared from the retentate. The inventive method enables the production of N-phosphonomethylglycine by simultaneously separating the halogenide salts thereof.

The invention relates to a method of reducing the inhalation toxicity of functional fluids by incorporating into a functional fluid an effective amount of copolymer which is obtainable by copolymerizing etheylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylenes oxide with an initiator monool or diol, said copolymer having a degree of unsaturation of less than about 0.01 meq/g.

The invention relates to a process for preparing N-phosphono-methylglycine by reacting a hexahydrotriazine compound with a triacyl phosphite in an organic solvent, hydrolyzing the resulting phosphono compound after prior extraction into an aqueous phase and separation from the organic phase. The process avoids decomposition of the organic solvent during hydrolysis.

Procedimiento para la obtención de N- fosfonometilglicina a partir de una mezcla acuosa que contiene N-fosfonometilglicina, halogenuros de amonio, así como halogenuros de metales alcalinos o alcalinotérreos y, dado el caso, impurezas orgánicas, en el que: (a) se ajusta el pH de la mezcla a un valor comprendido en el intervalo de 2 a 8, (b) se efectúa una separación de la mezcla en una membrana de nanofiltración selectiva, obteniéndose un retentato enriquecido en N-fosfonometilglicina y empobrecido en halogenuros y un permeato enriquecido en halogenuros y empobrecido en N- fosfonometilglicina y (c) se obtiene la N-fosfonometilglicina a partir del retentato.
