Abstract: En un proceso y un aparato para la preparacion continua de ésteres de alquilo del ácido (met)acrílico haciendo reaccionar el ácido (met)acrílico con alcanoles que tienen de 1 a 5 átomos de carbono, en una fase homogénea líquida exenta de solvente a temperatura elevada y en presencia de un catalizador de esterificacion de ácido en donde el ácido (met)acrílico, el alcanol y el catalizador se alimentan a una zona de reaccion, el agua formada se remueve mediante rectificacion durante un tiempo de permanencia como un constituyente de una mezcla que comprende alcanol en una unidad de rectificacion sobrepuesta en la zona de reaccion, el material destilado obtenido de esta manera se separa en una fase orgánica que comprende alcanol y una fase acuosa que comprende agua, la fase orgánica se hace regresar a la unidad de rectificacion, la mezcla de reaccion se descarga desde la zona de reaccion y se transporta hacia una zona de separacion de destilacion que comprende unidades de rectificacion adicionales y en la ultima, el (met)acrilato de alquilo formado se separa mediante los pasos que se indican en la descripcion.

Abstract: A process for esterifying (meth)acrylic acid with an alkanol in the presence of esterification catalyst comprises: (i) sepg. unreacted starting materials and the ester obtd. by distn., and (ii) producing a bottom prod. contg. an oxy-ester. The bottom prod. is isolated and processed by: (a) direct treatment with oligomeric (meth)acrylic acid (I) followed by heating in the presence of acid catalysts other than (I) to effect cleavage of the oxy-ester, or (b) sepn. of the oxy-ester by distn., followed by treatment of the distillate with (I) and thermal cleavage as above.

Abstract: In a process for esterifying (meth)acrylic acid with an alkanol in the presence of an esterification catalyst in which unreacted starting compounds and the (meth)acrylic ester formed are separated off by distillation and a bottom product containing oxy esters is obtained, the bottom product is separated off and either the bottom product is directly admixed with oligomeric (meth)acrylic acid and the oxy esters present in the bottom product are dissociated at an elevated temperature in the presence of acid catalysts different from oligomeric (meth)acrylic acid, or the oxy esters are first separated by distillation from the bottom product, the distillate is admixed with oligomeric (meth)acrylic acid and is dissociated at an elevated temperature in the presence of acid catalysts different from oligomeric (meth)acrylic acid.
