Abstract: 2-(5-Nitroimidazol-2-ylvinyl)thiadiazoles of formula (I) are new: (where R1 is 1-4C alkyl opt. substd. by OH; or 1-4C alkoxy; R2 is H or Me; R3 is H, 1-24C alkyl, opt. substd. phenyl or heteroaryl). Specif. (I) are 2-methyl-5- 2-(1-methyl-5-nitroimidazol-2-yl)vinyl -1,3,4-thiadia- zole and its i-ethyl analogue. (I) also have bactericidal activity. A typical cpd. 2-methyl-5-2-(1-methyl-5-nitroimidazol-2-yl)vinyl -1,3,4-thiadia- zole is prepd. in 62% yield by heating a mixt. of 2,5-dimethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole, 1-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-2-carboxaldehyde and ZnCl2 in acetic acid and acetic anhydride.

Abstract: Azolylmethylcycloalkanes of the formula I (I) where A and B are identical or different and are each hydrogen, unsubstituted or halogen-substituted alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, naphthyl, hetaryl, biphenyl or phenyl, where the phenyl radical can be substituted by halogen, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy or haloalkyl, each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenoxy or phenylsulfenyl, D and E are identical or different and are each hydrogen or halogen, Z is CH or N, m can be 1, 2, 3 or 4 and n can be 0, 1 or 2, their addition salts with acids and their metal complexes, and the preparation of these compounds, are described. The compounds are useful for treating disorders and for crop, wood and material protection.
