Abstract: Plastics grains for use as soil-improvers, consist of polymerised ethylene or propylene, with average mol. wt. of 0.1-20 x 106, grit-shaped particles of dia. 10-1000 mu, and bulk density 5-60% of the density of the polyolefin. The prod. is easily worked into the soil, without blocking holes formed by aeriation, and gives improved drainage, penetration of air, etc.
