Abstract: The invention relates to a self-extinguishing, thermoplastic moulding composition comprising A) ABS (built up in three parts, namely from rubber, graft shell + separate hard matrix), B) A halogen-containing organic compound (flameproofing agent), C) a metal or non-metal containing compound (synergist), D) a stabiliser, and E) a halogen-free component, based on novolaks which are obtainable from aldehydes of the formula (I> R -CHO in which R = H, C1-C10-alkyl, cycloalkyl or C6-C12-aryl or -aryl-C1-C3-alkyl, and phenols or mixtures of phenols, where the mixtures contain at least two monosubstituted phenols and the substituents may be alkyl radicals having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or CN, and which have number average molecular weights of 500 to 2000, where the novolaks used are those which have been modified first by introduction of at least one side group containing an ethylenic double bond and bonded via an oxygen atom of the novolak, and where e1) from 10 to 90% by weight of the thus-modified novolak (as graft base) and e2) from 90 to 10% by weight of a mixture of styrene and acrylonitrile (graft shell) have been grafted on. The moulding composition according to the invention is advantageously used for the production of mouldings.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of halogenated arylsiloxanes of the general formula (HalnAryl)xSi(OArylHalm)4-x by reacting silicon halides of the general formula (HalnAryl)xSiHal4-x with halogenated phenols of the general formula HalmAryl-OH in the presence of an alkyl aromatic compound having 8 to 12 C atoms, with stirring and in the presence of nitrogen-containing bases of the general formula (as acid binder) in which R , R and R in each case represent C1-C20-aryl radicals, it being possible for the substituents on the tertiary N atom to be identical or different, at temperatures below 30 DEG C, 1 mole of the compound IV being employed per mole of halogen to be eliminated and the precipitate which consists essentially of the adduct ÄR R R +NHÜHal and the desired reaction product being subjected to extraction with water, giving the desired product (insoluble component), which is subsequently dried.
