Abstract: The invention comprises a process for dyeing and/or printing textile materials with dyes containing reactive hydrogen atoms and with uncoloured polyfunctional compounds capable under alkaline conditions of effecting wash-fast fixation of said dyes, characterized in that the dyes used are compounds of 1-amino-4-arylaminoanthraquinone having at least one sulphonic acid group on the anthraquinon nucleus whose arylamino groups are attached to an arylamino radical containing at least one sulphonamido group which is unsubstituted or is monosubstituted on the sulphonamitho nitrogen atom. The invention also comprises dye compositions containing said dyes, the uncoloured polyfunctional compounds and an alkaline reacting agent. Dyes are used having the formula, in which Z1 denotes a sulphonic acid radical, hydrogen or halogen Z11 a sulphonic acid radical, hydrogen or halogen atom at least one of Z1 and Z11 being a sulphonic acid X group denotes an unsubstituted arylene radical or an arylene radical bearing alkyl, alkoxy or sulphonic acid radicals, Y denotes an unsubstituted arylene radical or an arylene radical bearing hydroxyl, nitro, alkyl or alkoxy groups or halogen atoms, R1 denotes a lower alkyl radical or hydrogen atom, R11 is a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl or aryl radical which is unsubstituted or bears alkoxy or hydroxy groups or halogen atoms, and n has the value 1 or 2. Many uncoloured polyfunctional compounds are specified particularly derivates of hexahydro-1, 3, 5-S-triazine. The dye, polyfunctional compound and alkaline reagents are applied to the material in any order or together, and fixation is by dry heating or steaming at 30 DEG -200 DEG C. Fabrics treated include, native or regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, polyacrylonitrile and its copolymers, polyester materials, wool silk and linear polyamides. Alkaline reacting agents include alkali metal hydroxides and salts of weak acids, such as sodium carbonate, bicarbonate, acetate, di and tridosium phosphate. Organic alkaline reagents includes pyridine and benzyltrimethylammonium hydroxide. Specifications 900,372 and 910,377 are referred to.

Abstract: Dyeing and/or printing textile materials by treating them, if necessary at elevated temperature, in the presence of a strongly alkaline reacting agent with an uncoloured polyfunctional compound which has at least three ethylenimino groups preferably attached by way of carbon or to phosphorus, said ethylenimino groups if desired bearing one or more aliphatic radicals or which is capable of forming such groups during the process and with an azo dye or a precursor thereof which contains at least one -NH- group in heterocyclic combination and completing the formation of the azo dye on the fibre when a precursor is used. Metal complexes of the said azo dyes may be used or, when using azo dyes that are metallisable, the metallisation may be performed on the fibre. A number of suitable diazo and coupling components as well as azo dyestuffs are specified. In all other respects statements made in the parent Specification hold good. Examples are given.

Abstract: Textile materials are dyed, printed and/or optically brightened in a process wherein the material is treated in the presence of an alkaline reacting agent, if necessary at elevated temperature, with at least one dye or optical brightening agent which has one or more reactive hydrogen atoms preferably attached via N,O or S or which is capable of forming such atoms during the process, and with at least one uncoloured, non-fluorescent heterocyclic compound which contains, preferably attached via N, at least two radicals of the formula in which X is a direct linkage, a phenylene or a substituted phenylene radical and Y is a halogen, preferably a Cl or Br atom. The present process is particularly applicable to textile materials of native and/or regenerated cellulose but may also be applied to materials of cellulose acetate, acrylonitrile polymers and copolymers, aromatic polyester, polyamides, wool and silk. A number of suitable inorganic and organic alkaline reacting agents are specified. The dyes and brightening agents may be from a large number of specified series, may be water-soluble or water-insoluble and may also be reactive dyes. The preferred polyfunctional compounds have the formula in which the groups of formula I are derived from chloro-acetyl chloride and p-chloromethylbenzoyl chloride. The alkaline agent, dye or brightener and polyfunctional compound may be applied successively in any sequence but are preferably applied together possibly together with one or more dispersing agents and/or dyeing auxiliaries and/or printing auxiliaries. The polyfunctional compounds may be employed as solutions in a water-miscible solvent, e.g. dimethyl-formamide. Fixation may be achieved at room temperature or by steaming or dry heating at 30-200 DEG C. Examples of dyeing cotton and rayon staple fabrics are given.
