Described is the use, as an additive to phosphate-reduced and phosphate-free washing and cleaning agents, of carboxyl-group-containing reaction products of (a) maleic acid anhydride, maleic acid and/or fumaric acid and (b) proteins or hydrolysed proteins, the reaction products having an acid number of at least 1.5 mmol of NaOH per gram of reaction product.

The invention concerns condensation products containing N,O-acetal- or carbonamide structures, the products being characterized in that they are obtained by the condensation of (a) compounds containing at least once the structural element (I) or (II) in which X=OH or NHR, R being C1 to C6 alkyl or -CH2-COOH, with (b) aldehydes, ketones or aldehydic or ketonic carboxylic acids to give acetal lactones and by subsequently splitting the acetal lactones with (c) aminocarboxylic acids, primary or secondary amines and/or polyethylenimines to give condensation products containing N,O-acetal- or carbonamide structures. The invention also concerns methods of preparing such products and their use as additives in washing and cleaning agents. The invention further concerns condensation products containing acetal lactone structures produced by reacting (a) hydroxycarboxylic acids or secondary aminoacids with polyhydroxy compounds and condensing with (b) aldehydes, ketones or aldehydic or ketonic carboxylic acids.

Modified polyaspartic acids are obtained by polycondensing (a) 1 to 99.9 mol % aspartic acid with (b) 99 to 0.1 mol % fatty acids, polybasic carboxylic acids, anhydrides of polybasic carboxylic acids, polybasic hydroxycarboxylic acids, monobasic polyhydroxycarboxylic acids, alcohols, amines, alkoxylated alcohols and amines, amino sugars, carbohydrates, sugar carboxylic acids and/or non-proteinogenic aminocarboxylic acids, or by polymerising monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of polyaspartic acids, in the manner of radically initiated graft copolymerisation. Also disclosed is a process for preparing these modified polyaspartic acids, as well as the use of these modified polyaspartic acids as additives to washing and cleaning agents, as water conditioning agents and as deposit inhibitors during the condensation of sugar juice.

Copolymères d'hydroxyalkylvinyléthers obtenus par copolymérisation amorcée cationiquement ou radicalairement de: (a) 99 à 1 % en poids d'hydroxyalkylvinyléthers; (b) 1 à 99 % en poids d'additifs produit par la réaction d'oxydes d'alkylènes C2 à C4 et d'hydroxyalkylvinyléther et (c) 0 à 98 % en poids d'autres monomères pouvant être copolymérisés, et utilisation de ces copolymères ainsi que d'hydroxyalkylvinyléthers polymérisés cationiquement ou radicalairement, qui contiennent sous forme polymérisée les monomères (a) ou (b), seuls ou mélangés avec d'autres monomères pouvant être copolymérisés, comme additifs de produits de lavage et de nettoyage, dans des proportions comprises entre 0,1 et 50 % en poids.

A process is disclosed for preparing products from the reaction of polyasparaginic acid imides with aminoacids by reacting aminoacids with polyasparaginic acid imides in an aqueous medium at pH values at which at least 5 % of the amino groups of the aminoacids having a non-protonated form are in equilibrium with those having a protonated form. Also disclosed is the use of the thus obtained reaction products and of products from the reaction of polyasparaginic acid imides with alkanolamines or aminated C1-C30-fatty alcohol alkoxilates which contain up to 50 % by moles of polymerized ethylene and/or propylene oxide per mole of fatty alcohol. These products are useful as additives for washing and cleaning agents, as scale inhibitors and as dispersing agents.

The invention concerns copolymers containing a) 5 to 90 mole % of vinyl formate units, b) 10 to 95 mole % of units of monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, c) 0 to 70 mole % of units of monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids and d) 0 to 30 mole % of units of other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, in the polymer structure and having K-values of at least 8 (determined on the sodium salt of the copolymer by the H. Fikentscher method in 1 % by weight. aqueous solution at pH 7 and 25 °C). The invention also concerns a method of producing such copolymers in aqueous solutions or in organic solvents in the presence of radical-forming polymerization initiators, as well as the use of the copolymers containing vinyl formate units, and the use of the copolymers containing vinyl alcohol units obtained by hydrolysis and/or oxidation, as additives to washing and cleaning agents.
