Abstract:
The invention relates to a mono-and diester of 2,5-di(hydroxymethyl)-tetrahydrofuran, to methods for the production thereof by esterification in the presence of tertiary amines or in the presence of enzymatic esterfication catalysts and to the use of said mono-and diester as surface-active compounds, rheology modifiers and emollients. The invention also relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical agents such as washing, cleaning and dishwashing agents which contain said mono-and diester of 2,5-di(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydrofuran.
Abstract:
Mixtures of Guerbet alcohols, their use in cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations, as well as cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations comprising mixtures of Guerbet alcohols are described. Particularly Guerbet alcohol mixtures with a melting range, measured by dynamic differential calorimetry (DSC), between -20°C and +70°C, where the width of the melting range comprises at least 30 temperature degrees and the maximum of the melting range is 35 ± 10°C, are suitable as Vaseline substitute. Said mixtures are obtainable for example by reacting a) 55 to 95% by weight of cetylstearyl alcohol, b) 5 to 45% by weight of fatty alcohols with a chain length of 8 to 22 carbon atoms and c) optionally an aliphatic diol with at least 3 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of a cosmetic composition comprising isosorbide monooleate for depositing isosorbide monooleate on human skin or hair. Furthermore it relates to a process for depositing isosorbide monooleate on human skin or hair, wherein this process comprises contacting human skin or hair with a cosmetic composition comprising isosorbide monooleate and rinsing off the cosmetic composition comprising isosorbide monooleate with water, so that, after rinsing off the cosmetic composition, isosorbide monooleate is left deposited on the human skin or hair.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing compositions containing unsaturated compounds, wherein (A) one or a plurality of unsaturated monocarboxylic acids with 10 to 24 C atoms or esters of these monocarboxylic acids and (B) one or a plurality of unsaturated dicarboxylic acids with 4 to 20 C atoms or esters thereof are subjected to a tandem isomerization/metathesis reaction in the presence of a palladium catalyst and a ruthenium catalyst, with the condition that compounds which contain at least one Pd-P(R 1 R 2 R 3 ) structure element are used as the palladium catalysts, wherein the R 1 to R 3 radicals each - independently of one another - have 2 to 10 C atoms, which can each be aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic, or heterocyclic, with the condition that at least one of the R 1 to R 3 radicals contains a beta hydrogen, wherein the palladium catalyst is used as such or generated in situ, with the condition that the method is performed in the absence of substances having a pKa value of 3 or less.
Abstract:
Described are isosorbide derivatives according to general formula wherein R and R′, independently of one another, are: (i) hydrogen atom, or (ii) radical COR″, wherein R″ is linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radical having 5 to 23 carbon atoms, or (iii) linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radical having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, or (iv) radical CH2—CHOH—R′″, wherein R′″ is linear or branched alkyl radical having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, or (v) radical (CH2—CH2O)n—H and/or (CH2—CH(CH3)—O)m—H, wherein n and m, independently of one another, are an integer or fraction from 1 to 10, or (vi) for radical SO3OX, wherein X represents a sodium or ammonium ion, with the proviso that at most one of the radicals R and R′ is a hydrogen atom. The isosorbide derivatives are useful as components of cosmetic compositions.
