    Abstract: This new cable is designed especially for the wiring loom of a motor vehicle. It novel structure comprises a flexible support sheet (10) carrying strip conductor(s) (20). At set intervals (L) there are contacts covered by a detachable layer. A non-conducting, flexible medium covers the cable, up to the contact regions. Also claimed is the method of manufacturing the cable, in which a long supporting sheet band is covered by adjacent contacts. The detachable protective strip is applied to the contacts. Uncovered regions are then coated with a flexible non-conductor. Finally, the support band is separated into strips with one or more conductive tracks. Preferably the flexible support sheet is made of polyamide, the tracks being fastened to it adhesively. A protective varnish may form the non-conductive flexible layer, or else a further polyamide sheet, adhesively-attached. The support sheet has perforations (40) running parallel to the tracks. At least in the region of the contacts, the carrier sheet is at least partially enclosed by foam. This may be foamed-on, in the form of a fastener, to attach the support sheet to the vehicle. Foaming penetrates the perforations. The cable may be fully encased by foam, forming fastenings near the contacts. Contacts fasten directly to terminals or a control unit. Coating of the support strip band with conductive tracks, covering the contact elements and coating of non-covered regions, are all carried out on a working surface whose length is a multiple of the repeat length (L) between contacts.
