Abstract: PURPOSE: To estimate an individual element resistance at a high speed and with high accuracy by a constitution which is provided with a transverse-direction wiring-end-current measuring process, a node analytical equation, an error equation, and a resistance-value estimation process. CONSTITUTION: Under the control of a central processing unit 107, respective longitudinal wiring terminals and respective transverse wiring terminals at a circuit 112 to be measured are selected sequentially one terminal by one terminal, a prescribed voltage +V and a prescribed voltage -V are applied, the current value of every transverse wiring terminal to be measured by an ammeter 111 is inputted to the unit 107 via an A/D converter 110 and a data input part 103 so as to be stored in a RAM 104. The initial value, the update value and the final estimation value of every surface conduction-type electron emission element resistance, a current value at every transverse wiring terminal and the resistance value of every prescribed wiring resistance are stored in the RAM 104. The estimation program of the surface conduction-type electron emission element resistance is stored in a ROM 105. The unit 107 sequentially reads and executes the estimation program which has been stored in the ROM 104. The result which has been stored by the unit 107 is displayed on a display 109 of a display device, a printer device or the like via a data output part 108.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an image display method in which fluctuation in driving condition caused by electric resistivity of matrix wiring of a display panel can appropriately be corrected by employing a small amount of hardware. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a means which computes the amount of voltage drop caused by the resistivity of row wiring for inputted image data and computes image data (corrected image data) in which the amount of voltage drop is corrected. Moreover, overflow is prevented by the gain in an overflow processing circuit so that the image data that are corrected do not overflow the input range of a modulation means. Furthermore, saturation characteristic of phosphor is canceled by constituting a gradation converting section which changes the gradation converting characteristic by gain in the preceding stage of the constitution that corrects the effect of the voltage drop. Thus, a high quality image can be displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method capable of preferably correcting variation of driving conditions due to electric resistance of the display panel matrix wiring by less hardware. SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with a γ-correction means for negating the characteristic of a display panel before a modulation means. Or, the image display device has a correction picture data calculation means for calculating correction image data in which an influence of a voltage drop in the scanning wiring is corrected, having a maximum value detection circuit, a gain calculation means, a gain limiting part, and a multiplier so as to prevent an overflow when the corrected image data are inputted to the modulation means; the gain limiter limits the gain so that the gain, an output of the gain calculation means, does not exceed the maximum gain value; the γ-correction means negates the characteristic of the display panel, and limits the corrected picture data or the image data so that the modulation means does not overflow. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to infer the factor and to perform a proper adjustment for recovering the correct operation by providing an image display device with a discharge detecting means for detecting discharge and a discharge recording means for recording the information on the detected discharge when abnormal discharge occurs between an element substrate and a fluorescent plate. SOLUTION: A discharge recording part is composed of a discharge recording control part 6008, a memory 6009, an interface 6010, a connector 6011 for connecting external equipment, etc. The discharge recording control part 6008 writes the information sent from an anode current detecting part 6005 in the memory 6009 and also reads data from the memory 6009 and outputs them at the time of reading the discharge information, for example, when a serviceman performs maintenance, etc. The discharge recording control part 6008, when an anode current not less than a specified value is made to flow from the anode current detecting part 6005, records the date of occurrence and the level of the anode current.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure the resistance value of a resistant element being arranged in a matrix by eliminating the influence of a voltage drop caused by wiring resistance. SOLUTION: In a resistance-measuring device that measures the resistance of m×n resistant elements being wired in a matrix by m column wires (m indicates a positive integer) and n row wires (n indicates a positive integer), a probe needle 4042 is brought into contact with column wiring 4021 and row wiring 4022 at both the end parts of column wiring 4021 and row wiring 4022 and at least one part between both the end parts, a column-direction signal wire group 4041 and a row-direction signal wire group 4042 where signal wires from the probe needle are short-circuited for each of column and row wires are formed, each of the column-direction signal wire group 4041 is grounded via a shunt resistor 4034, each of the row-direction signal wire group 4042 is successively selected for applying a specific voltage Vs by an application pattern switching circuit 4031, voltage at the probe needle being connected to the column and row wires corresponding to the voltage application is measured, and each resistance value of a plurality of resistant elements 4023 is calculated by the contact analysis equation based on the measured voltage value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably radiate electron beam to a prescribed phosphor by installing an electron emitting part and a first and a second electrode for applying voltage in each of a plurality of electron radiating elements and arranging the first electrode, the electron emitting part, and the second electrodes approximately in parallel to the direction of a row near the electron emission part. SOLUTION: The electron beam emitted out of an electron emitting part 5023 has an initial velocity component in the direction toward a positive electrode 5021 from a negative electrode 5022 and potential distribution caused in a space above the electron emitting part 5023 at the time of applying the driving voltage passage the electron emitting part 5023 and becomes an asymmetric distribution with respect to a line perpendicular to the substrate plane. The equipotential surface is almost parallel to the substrate plane in the periphery of a target 5024. The equipotential surface is inclined in the periphery of an electron radiating element due to the effect of the driving voltage VF and electrons receive force in the z-direction simultaneously in the y-direction due to the inclined potential. The position of the target 5024 to which the electron beam is radiated is moved to a position shifted from the position immediate above the electron emitting part 5023 in the y-direction by the distance Lef.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an element from generating ringing at the time of synchronizing with a rising edge of a pulse and being destroyed when a picture signal is pulse-width-modulated and is impressed on a cold cathode. SOLUTION: When a NTSC picture signal is inputted, the signal is digitized by an 8-bit A/D converter 105, and (m)×(n) picture elements for one line of the panel are inputted to a D/A converter in a modulation signal generator 108. On the other hand, a n-bit shift register 1083 in the modulation signal generator 108 shifts a rectangular pulse by a clock cycle short enough at the cycle for one horizontal scanning period and outputs (n) pieces of pulses. This output performs switching of the output signal of the D/A converter and modulated signal with a deviated rise time and a prescribed width is impressed on the element. The modulated signal thus obtained rises up at a timing according to the picture element value and falls in synchronization with each line. Consequently, the generation of ringing can be prevented at rising up and its harmful effect can be prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the resistance value of individual resistance elements accurately at high speed without breaking a circuit in a matrix circuit including the resistance elements with the resistance value. SOLUTION: In an n×m matrix circuit with a plurality of resistance elements arranged in a matrix state, the m-number of row direction wiring are earthed through monitor resistance 3037 with the specified resistance value. As to the n-number of column direction wiring, an applied pattern change-over switch 3031 applies specified voltage from power supply 3039 to one wiring selected by a control signal and earthes other wiring through monitor resistance 3038 with the specified resistance value. This applied pattern change-over switch 3031 is controlled to switch the connected state (applied pattern) of the column direction wiring, and the end part voltage of all the column direction wiring and row direction wiring are measured in each of all the obtained connected states. Each resistance value of the resistance elements is then computed on the basis of the obtained voltage value.
