SOLUTION: The picture display device comprises a discrete correction data calculation part, a correction data interpolation part, and an arithmetic calculation part for calculating the correction data calculated by the correction data interpolation part and the picture data. Moreover, the picture display device comprises an amplitude adjustment means for adjusting the amplitude so that the amplitude of the corrected picture data corresponds to the input range of a modulation means when calculating the picture data and the correction data. Moreover, overflow is prevented by the gain in an overflow processing circuit so that the image data that are corrected do not overflow the input range of a modulation means. Furthermore, saturation characteristic of phosphor is canceled by constituting a gradation converting section which changes the gradation converting characteristic by gain in the preceding stage of the constitution that corrects the effect of the voltage drop.
