Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device capable of suitably correcting variation in driving conditions due to electric resistance in the matrix wiring of a display panel by using lesser hardware, and further, to prevent a picture from being decreased in brightness, due to lesser frequent existence of rows with projectingly large corrected picture data. SOLUTION: The picture display device comprises a discrete correction data calculation part, a correction data interpolation part, and an arithmetic calculation part for calculating the correction data calculated by the correction data interpolation part and the picture data. Moreover, the picture display device comprises an amplitude adjustment means for adjusting the amplitude so that the amplitude of the corrected picture data corresponds to the input range of a modulation means when calculating the picture data and the correction data. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an image display method in which fluctuation in driving condition caused by electric resistivity of matrix wiring of a display panel can appropriately be corrected by employing a small amount of hardware. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a means which computes the amount of voltage drop caused by the resistivity of row wiring for inputted image data and computes image data (corrected image data) in which the amount of voltage drop is corrected. Moreover, overflow is prevented by the gain in an overflow processing circuit so that the image data that are corrected do not overflow the input range of a modulation means. Furthermore, saturation characteristic of phosphor is canceled by constituting a gradation converting section which changes the gradation converting characteristic by gain in the preceding stage of the constitution that corrects the effect of the voltage drop.
