Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the float of the rear end part of a material to be recorded held by a carrier to prevent the image turbulence by the contact with a recording means by controlling the applied voltage in such a manner that the electrostatic inducing force acting on the rear end part of the material to be recorded is stronger than the electrostatic inducing force acting on other parts. CONSTITUTION: Two recording sheets S wound and carried by a rotating drum 10 receive a charge by a charging roller 13, when passed between the rotating drum 10 and the charging roller 13, and are electrostatically attracted by the rotating drum 10. The charging roller 13 adds, for example, a voltage forming a surface potential of 200 V to the part other than the sheet rear end, and a surely attractable voltage forming a surface potential of 600V to the sheet rear end so that no slippage of arriving position is caused in the recording sheet S. Thus, since the recording sheet top end is held by a gripper 14, and the rear end is surely electrostatically attracted by the rotating drum 10, the float of the recording sheet S can be prevented while a trouble by the electric field caused on the surface of the sheet S electrostatically attracted by the rotating drum 10 is prevented.
