Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make readable a transmitting FAX even with no use of viewer soft of an image file by separating the images transmitted by a FAX and converting the images into the text data and an image file to synthesize an e-mail. SOLUTION: The FAX data transmitted from a user are temporarily stored in a received FAX data store area included in a network (21). Then, the simple opposite party designating number that is added to a dial number is analyzed (26) and a destination list that is previously sent is referred to (27) to generate an e-mail address (28). The FAX data are separated into the character and image areas (22) to apply the OCR processing to the character area, to convert the image data into text data (23) and to convert the image area into a specific image file (25). Then the text data and the image file are synthesized in an e-mail form, i.e., an attached file form (24). The synthesized data are stored in a transmitting e-mail data store area (29) and then sent to a mail server.

An order form is sent as an image through the Internet and data for order reception processing are FAXed as binary data by using a telephone network.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even in a process system which identifies a file format with a file name (file extension) to perform a proper process to normally restore the file by automatically generating a file name, having an extension corresponding to an image format and sending it in a mail, when an image is transmitted or a received facsimile image is transferred. SOLUTION: When transmitting operation starts, image data are transferred from an image read part 105 to an image memory 104. Then the state of a network specification switch 112 is detected, and when the state is turned on, a file name is generated. Here, the file name is composed of 'image' plus a 3-digit serial number plus '.' plus an extension. Then an image format conversion part 109 converts the image data stored as raw data into MH code. The image data which are thus obtained are attached to an electronic mail in accordance with the MIME standards. Then the file name is added to this electronic mail.

CONSTITUTION: This equipment is provided with an automatic document feeder 101 to feed a document automatically in order to read image data, and when the automatic document feeder 101 reads a document and carries it to a start position, a document mode recognition section 102 identifies whether or not the document is a destination recognition document and when the carried document is identified to be the destination recognition document a scanner 103 is used to read the document and a character recognition control section 104 recognizes characters from the read image data to recognize the transmission destination and a control section 105 allows the scanner 103 to read the document of succeeding pages and sends the read data to the recognized destination.
