    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficiently conducting the continuous production of a high molecular weight lactone polymer with improved coloring properties or the like which is allowed to have a uniform molecular weight in a reaction apparatus. SOLUTION: Cyclohexanone and an aldehyde are oxidized together or cyclohexanone is oxidized with a peracid to obtain ε-caprolactone and a carboxylic acid which are then added with a group IVa, group Va, group VIa, group VIIa, group VIII group Ib or group IIb element and/or a compound thereof and subjected to distillation to recover ε-caprolactone. The resulting ε- caprolactone alone or together with at least one member selected from the group consisting of another lactone, a bimolecular cyclic ester and a polymer having a hydroxyl group and/or an ester bond as the reaction feedstock is continuously supplied to a tower type continuous reaction apparatus (A) comprising at least one tower type reactor to effect ring-opening polymerization.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable safe operation even with small energy required for separation and readily separate formic acid and acetic acid by distillation, by carrying out azeotropic distillation while refluxing and circulating an organic acid mixture consisting essentially of the formic acid and acetic acid using a specific stable azeotropic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A formic acid-acetic acid mixture solution is charged from a charging line 1 into the central part of a separation column 2, distilled as a cyclohexane azeotrope of the formic acid-azeotropic solvent from an overhead distillate line 3, condensed in a condenser 4, introduced into a decanter 5 and separated into the upper layer (cyclohexane layer) and lower layer (formic acid layer) therein. The upper layer cyclohexane is then passed through a distillate return line 6 and refluxed into the separation column 2 and the lower layer (formic acid layer) is fed from the decanter 5 into a product column 10. The dissolved cyclohexane is recovered as an azeotrope of cyclohexane- formic acid from the column top to afford pure formic acid 11 from the column bottom. The acetic acid is then taken out of the column bottom line 7 and partially returned to the bottom of the separation column.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the magneto-optical recording medium having excellent rewriting resistance by preventing the thermal deterioration of a transparent substrate at the time of rewriting. CONSTITUTION:The main part of the magneto-optical recording medium is constituted of the transparent substrate 10 which is made of polycarbonate, a first dielectric interference layer 21 (AlN) of a low theramal conductivity and a second dielectric interference layer 22 (TaOx) of a high thermal conductivity which are successively formed on this transparent substrate, a memory layer 31, intermediate layer 32 and writing layer 33 which are successively formed on this second dielectric interference layer and constitute a magneto-optical recording layer and a dielectric protective layer (TaOx) 40 which is formed in this writing layer 33. The flow of heat to the transparent substrate side is lessened by the effect of the second dielectric interference layer 22 of the low thermal conductivity and the output of a laser power is decreased by decreasing the heat radiatror from the magneto-optical recording film. On the other hand, the heat from the magneto-optical recording film flowing out into the first dielectric interference layer via the second dielectric interference layer is widely diffused by the effect of the first dielectric interference layer 21 of the high thermal conductivity and, therefore, the thermal influence on the transparent substrate is lessened.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the magneto-optical recording medium which is hardly deteriorated in recording and reproducing characteristics in spite of continuous repetition of >=1,000,000 times of erasing, recording and reproducing and is hardly deteriorated in the reproduced signals thereof in spite of continuous repetition of about 1,000,000 times of reproducing of the recorded information. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-optical recording medium is produced by forming an interference film 21 of a dielectric substance by sputtering under 35 to 40 deg.C condition on a polycarbonate substrate 11 and heating this substrate 11 to 90 deg.C, then successively forming a magneto-optical recording film 31, a protective film 41 of a dielectric substance and a reflection film 51 on this interference film 21 of the dielectric substance under 90 deg.C condition and providing an over coat layer 61 of a UV curing resin. Since the magneto-optical recording film is formed in the state of heating the substrate at 90 deg.C, the deterioration of the magneto-optical recording film by annealing is prevented. Since the stress arising from the difference in coefft. of thermal expansion is generated between the magneto-optical recording film and the interference film of the dielectric substance and the protective film of the dielectric substance adjacent thereto, the decrease in the coercive force of the magneto-optical recording film is prevented even if the films are formed under the high temp. condition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the magneto-optical recording medium which can decrease bias magnetic fields at the time of writing and can maintain recording information over a long period of time and the process for producing this recording medium. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium has a magnetic film 3 having the axis of easy magnetization perpendicular to the film plane on a substrate 1 and executes the recording and erasing of information by irradiating the medium with a light beam while impressing the bias magnetic field to this magnetic film. The magnetic wall coercive force Hw of the magnetic film of the above-mentioned recording medium is set at >=3.0kOe and =3.0kOe, the magnetic walls do not move under ordinary conditions and the preservable stability of the information is excellent.
