    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for producing a polyester, which can efficiently produce a polymer with a high degree of polymerization by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A polycondensation reactor 2 is provided in which a hydrophobic catalyst is added to effect the polycondensation of a dicarboxylic acid and a diol under normal pressure, and a separation unit 10 is attached to the reactor 2 for separating an organic solvent and water distilled out from the reactor 2 and refluxing the solvent. The water generated with polycondensation is caught in the organic solvent without getting close again to the reaction product polyester in the presence of the hydrophobic catalyst, so that the hydrolysis of the polyester produced is controlled. As the result, the polycondensation proceeds even under normal pressure. A polyester with a high degree of polymerization can be thus produced with a device of a simple constitution wherein the polycondensation reactor 2 operated under normal pressure and the separation unit 10 of a simple structure, e.g. a decanter, are provided.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a rubber-modified styrene-based resin which provides a molded product having an excellent impact resistance and surface gloss. SOLUTION: A feedstock solution is loaded in a first reactor 11 and polymerized to a degree not exceeding a polymerization conversing ratio where a rubber is granulated. In a reactor 12, the reaction system is imported with a shear rate of 0.5-20 sec . and polymerized in such a manner that a conversion ratio is greater than the one where a rubber is granulated but the rubber is not allowed to be granulated acturally. The rubber is first granulated in a second reactor 13 and the polymerization conversion ratio is further increased in a plug-flow type reactor 14.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality polyester polymer continuously without encountering many difficulties resulting from an increase in the viscosity of the reaction mixture by using a tower-type continuous reactor in the production of a high-molecular-weight polyester polymer by ring opening polymerization. SOLUTION: A polymerization material comprising at least one lactone is fused in an inert gas atmosphere, continuously fed into a tower-type continuous reactor and polymerized through ring opening to continuously produce a polyester polymer. If required for the purpose of e.g. viscosity control, at most 20 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. polymerization component, solvent is added, and the reaction is performed. After the polymerization, the residual monomer and/or the solvent are removed from the formed polymer by means of a devolatilizer contiguous to the reactor and recovered. Alternatively, a polymerization material comprising a cyclic ester formed from two molecules of at least one hydroxycarboxylic acid and at least one polymer having hydroxyl groups and/or ester bonds is continuously fed into a tower-type continuous reactor and copolymerized to continuously produced a polyester polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly and certainly impart gas barrier properties, heat sealability, surface lubricity and printability by treating the surface of a base material film and subsequently coating said film with a coating agent to stretch the same. CONSTITUTION:A coating process for coating a base material film with a coating agent and a stretching process for stretching the coated film are provided. The thermoplastic resin constituting the base material film is a stretchable resin having film forming capacity and, for example, polyethylene, an ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer and an ionomer are used. As surface treatment, treatment forming an active group such as a carbonyl group or a carboxyl group to the base material film or forming recessed and protruding parts to the surface thereof, for example, corona discharge treatment, high frequency treatment or solvent treatment can be designated. The coating agent used in the coating process is selected corresponding to a purpose for modifying a film, for example, gas barrier properties, heat sealability, surface lubricity and printability. In the stretching process, uniaxial or biaxial stretching is performed simultaneously or in a time series manner corresponding to the kind of a thermoplastic resin and the desired characteristics of a film or uniaxial stretching and biaxial stretching may be combined.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficiently conducting the continuous production of a high molecular weight lactone polymer with improved coloring properties or the like which is allowed to have a uniform molecular weight in a reaction apparatus. SOLUTION: Cyclohexanone and an aldehyde are oxidized together or cyclohexanone is oxidized with a peracid to obtain ε-caprolactone and a carboxylic acid which are then added with a group IVa, group Va, group VIa, group VIIa, group VIII group Ib or group IIb element and/or a compound thereof and subjected to distillation to recover ε-caprolactone. The resulting ε- caprolactone alone or together with at least one member selected from the group consisting of another lactone, a bimolecular cyclic ester and a polymer having a hydroxyl group and/or an ester bond as the reaction feedstock is continuously supplied to a tower type continuous reaction apparatus (A) comprising at least one tower type reactor to effect ring-opening polymerization.
