Abstract: Compounds of the general formula (wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals or are, together with the nitrogen atom, linked to form a ring which may contain a further hetero-atom, Alk is a straight or branched C2- 4 alkylene chain and X is an oxygen or sulphur atom) and their acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium compounds are prepared by (a) reacting a compound of the formula (wherein Hal is a chlorine or bromine atom) with a compound of the formula (conveniently in the form of an alkali metal derivative), (b) reacting a compound of the formula (conveniently in the form of an alkali metal derivative) with a compound of the formula or (c) reacting a compound of the formula with a compound of the formula optionally followed in each case by conversion to an acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium compound. The compounds of the invention have analgesic or antiphlogistic activity.

The treatment takes place in two steps. In the first step there is used a temperature of about 30 DEG to 60 DEG C. and in the second step at a temperature about 10 DEG to 30 DEG C. lower than in the first step.
