    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for lubricating the passage of a container with a polyethylene terephthalate surface along a conveyor, wherein the method is characterised by the steps of: a) applying, for a period of time, a lubricant composition to at least a portion of the container- contacting surface of the conveyor or to at least a portion of the conveyor-contacting surface of the container, wherein the lubricant composition includes from about 0.0005 wt. percent to about 5.0 wt. percent of a water-miscible silicone material, wherein the lubricant composition is applied to the container such that the contact angle between the lubricant composition and container is less than about 60 degrees, b) ceasing the application of the lubricant composition to at least a portion of the container- contacting surface of the conveyor or to at least a portion of the conveyor-contacting surface of the container for a period of time at least equal to the period of time the lubricant composition was being applied to at least a portion of the container- contacting surface of the conveyor or to at least a portion of the conveyor-contacting surface of the container, and c) repeating steps a) and b).
