Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based concentrated composition essentially free from a hydrocarbon wax and polydimethylsiloxane, showing high washing efficiency and leaving no water spots on the surface of the washed vehicle by mixing a specified amount of an aliphatic alkyl ether amine composition with a stabilizer which solubilizes the ether amine and water. SOLUTION: This composition comprises about 0.1 to 50wt.% composition containing an aliphatic alkyl ether amine of the formula: R-O-R2 NH-A (wherein A is R3 NH2 or H; R2 and R3 are each a 1-6C linear or branched alkylene; and R is an about 6 to 28C aliphatic group), desirably a 10-20C alkyloxyalkyl-1,3- diaminopropane or a 10-20C alkyloxyalkylamine, an affective amount of a stabilizer comprising a neutralizing acid and/or a nonionic surfactant (e.g. 6-24C alcohol ethoxylate) and a major proportion of water.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for applying a detergent use solution to a washing surface of a motor vehicle, including the steps of: (a) providing a liquid detergent concentrate that includes an active ingredient level from about 0.1 wt.% to about 15 wt.%; (b) introducing the liquid detergent concentrate into a water stream to provide a detergent use solution that includes an active ingredient level from about 0.03 wt.% and 1 wt.%; and (c) applying the detergent use solution to a washing surface of a motor vehicle. In addition, the present invention also relates to a method for washing a washing surface of a vehicle, wherein the method includes: (a) providing a liquid detergent concentrate having an active ingredients level from about 0.1 wt.% to about 15 wt.%; (b) introducing the liquid detergent concentrate into a diluent stream to provide a detergent use solution; and (c) applying the detergent use solution to a washing surface of a vehicle wherein the detergent use solution has a relatively constant active ingredients level over the entire washing surface during a wash cycle.
Abstract:
Thermally formed thermoplastic articles can be protected from stress cracking in the presence of stress cracking promoting compounds by forming a shaped article comprising a thermoplastic and a liquid hydrocarbon oil composition. We have found that the liquid hydrocarbon oil composition prevents the stress cracking promoting materials from interacting with the polymeric structure of the stressed container to prevent or inhibit stress cracking in such materials. The methods and compositions of the invention are particularly useful in preventing stress cracking in polyethylene terephthalate beverage containers during bottling operations during which the bottle is contacted with aqueous and non-aqueous materials such as cleaners and lubricants that can interact with the polyester to cause stress cracking particularly in the container base. A process for lubricating a container, such as a beverage container, or a conveyor for containers, by applying to the container or conveyor, a thin continuous, substantially non-dripping layer of a liquid lubricant. The process provides many advantages compared to the use of a conventional dilute aqueous lubricant.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and methods employing a water soluble magnesium compound. In certain embodiments, the composition includes water and water soluble magnesium compound, but lacks other materials commonly used in cleaning compositions. The methods and compositions can provide magnesium ion at predefined ratios to calcium ion in water, such as magnesium ion in a molar amount equal to or in excess over a molar amount of calcium ion. A water soluble magnesium salt including an anion of a water soluble calcium salt is more effective than a magnesium salt with an anion of a water insoluble calcium salt. These compositions can be used for reducing lime scale or precipitate formation from hard water, removing soap scum, or the like.
Abstract:
A method for treating feedwater is provided. The method includes steps of introducing a treatment composition into a feedwater stream to provide a treated feedwater stream containing scale inhibitor at a concentration of at least about 0.1 ppm, and combining the treated feedwater stream with a detersive composition. The scale inhibitor can include a phosphate scale inhibitor, a carbonate scale inhibitor, or a combination of a phosphate scale inhibitor and a carbonate scale inhibitor. The detersive composition can be provided as a cleaning composition, a rinse agent composition, or a drying agent composition. A treatment composition and an apparatus for treating feedwater are provided.
Abstract:
Lubricating solutions are seud on conveying system in the beverage industry during the filling of containers with dairy products or other beverages. Lubricating compositions of the present invention, especially those designed for use in heavy load bearing conveyors such as those in the dairy industry conveying systems for contained beverages, comprise at least the following components: (a) an alkyl alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated, preferably ethoxylated) phosphate ester, (b) a secondary alcohol alkoxylate, (with an optional aryl [e.g., aromatic, such as phenol] alkoxylated [e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated] phosphate ester), (c) an aromatic or linear quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent, and (d) a liquid carrier, such as water. These lubricating solutions are capable of providing good lubricity and antimicrobial activity over a prolonged time and under high stress and heavy loads.
