    Abstract: Un método para mejorar una continuidad de sesión de un terminal (204, 204', 304) en una red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302) distinta de una red de comunicación doméstica (200, 200', 300) del terminal (204, 204', 304), en donde la red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302) comprende un nodo de transferencia de sesión (208, 208', 308) para transferir sesiones cada una que comprende datos de señalización (216, 220, 316, 420) y datos de medios (340, 442) desde una primera red de acceso (210, 210', 310) de la red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302) a una segunda red de acceso (212, 212', 312) de la red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302), el método que se ejecuta por el nodo de transferencia de sesión (208, 208', 308) en la red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302), el método que comprende lo siguiente, - encaminar (102) los datos de señalización (216, 316) de una sesión del terminal (204, 204', 304) entre la primera red de acceso (210, 210', 310) y la red de comunicación doméstica (200, 200', 300) a través del nodo de transferencia de sesión (208, 208', 308) en la red de comunicación de servicio (202, 202', 302), - recibir (104) una petición de transferencia de sesión que solicita la transferencia de la sesión desde la primera red de acceso (210, 210', 310) a la segunda red de acceso (212, 212', 312) para el terminal (204, 204', 304), - transferir (106) la sesión desde la primera red de acceso (210, 210', 310) a la segunda red de acceso (212, 212',312), y - encaminar (108) los datos de señalización (220, 420) de la sesión del terminal (204, 204', 304) entre la segunda red de acceso (212, 212', 312) y la red de comunicación doméstica (200, 200', 300) a través del nodo de transferencia de sesión (208, 208', 308).

    Abstract: The combination of narrowband applications with broadband transport is enabled by combining a first node having narrowband ability with a second node having broadband ability in which the first node has at least call control functionality, and the second node has connection control functionality and associated switching capabilities. The second node may rely on the call control functionality of the first node for traffic handling functions. Communications between the two nodes may be effectuated over first and second links for call signaling information and call data information, respectively. When switching fabric for call data information is present in both of the first and second nodes, incoming calls to either node may be routed as an outgoing call from the other node in order to, for example, switch between broadband and narrowband transport mechanisms.

    Abstract: A method of provisioning an address of a Packet Mobile Switching Centre at a Mobile Station, the Packet Mobile Switching Centre providing an interface between a packet switched domain to which the Mobile Station is attached, and a circuit switched service domain, and the packet switched domain comprising a Mobility Management Entity for handling Mobility Management in respect of the Mobile Station and for performing location updates with the Packet Mobile Switching Centre on behalf of the Mobile Station. The method comprises sending a Location Update request from the Mobility Management Entity to a Mobile Switching Centre server within the Packet Mobile Switching Centre on behalf of the Mobile Station. In response, the Mobile Switching Centre server returns to the Mobility Management Entity a Location Update Accept containing an address of the Packet Mobile Switching Centre. The Mobility Management Entity forwards the address to the Mobile Terminal.

    Abstract: ATM is used as a transport and switching mechanism in a hybrid STM/ATM network while the signaling remains normal narrowband signaling. The narrowband signaling is transported on permanent paths over ATM connections, and the narrowband speech channels are transported on ATM and switched on a "Per call basis" (on-demand) through an ATM switch. A translator formats a call-setup-related signaling message into ATM cells so that the signaling message can be routed through an ATM switch to a circuit switched (STM) node. The circuit switched node (PSTN/ISDN) sets up a physical connection for the call and generates a further signaling message therefor that relates to the physical connection. The ATM switch routes an ATM cell-formatted version of the further signaling message to another ATM switch over an ATM physical interface. Thus, the ATM switch switches both narrowband traffic and signaling for the call over the ATM physical interface.
