Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing both Mobile Terminated, MT, and Mobile Originated, MO, circuit switched (CS) services such as Short Message Service, SMS, services in networks utilizing CS Fallback and CSoLTE-I architectures. An extended SGs interface referred to as SGs+ (63) is implemented between a Mobility Management Entity, MME, (64) in an SAE core network (11) and a Mobile Switching Center Server, MSC-S, (61). The SGs+ interface supports transmission of upper layer CS packet data units while utilizing either connectionless or connection-oriented Signaling Connection Control Part, SCCP, operation. The non access stratum, NAS, signaling support between the User Equipment, UE, (27) and the MME (64) is extended to provide support for both MT SMS and MO SMS service.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes a solution for providing packet-switched services to a user, even in case the user is accessibly only via a circuit-switched access. For this purpose it is proposed to force the user to report changes in the reachability status and to keep the user's registration alive in a packet-switched domain as long as the user is reachable. A packet-switched adapter located between the circuit-switched domain and a packet-switched domain aligns the registration status of the user in the packet-switched domain to the reachability status and performs a registration procedure depending on the outcome of the alignments. The registration procedure might be in detail either a registration or a re-registration or a de-registration procedure.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a technique of operating a call control node controlling at least one section of a call path. The call path includes between two opposite edge nodes a multi-section harmonization path along which codec selection is to be harmonized. A method embodiment of the technique, wherein the call control node is a transfer node in the harmonization path between the edge nodes, comprises the steps of determining if the call control node is a transfer node of the harmonization path; determining if a codec used for the at least one section controlled by the call control node fulfills a predefined harmonization criterion; and providing, in case the used codec does not fulfill the harmonization criterion, a harmonization trigger indication to at least one of the edge nodes of the harmonization path for initiating harmonization.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for providing periodic location updates to a MSC-S in a CS core network providing CS services for a terminal attached to a PS cell of a radio access network such as an LTE radio access network. The method comprises sending periodic location updates from a PCSC in the core network to the MSC-S for as long as the terminal is registered with the PCSC or the PCSC receives location updates from the terminal.
