PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system including a modem card improved in the sound quality of an audio signal. SOLUTION: An audio signal is sometimes provided a mute circuit (514, etc.), is provided for an audio signal for preventing noise applied on the audio signal from a modem. It is possible to construct a mute circuit for improving the sound quality of such an audio signal without needing large design change to a modem subsystem (260) and also in an inexpensive method by concretely using, e.g. an off-hook (OFF-HOOK) signal (512) that already exists in the modem subsystem as a gate (G) input.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an S/N ratio in a mute state by informing an information processor of the fact that it is in the mute state when the read out data are not the audio data. SOLUTION: A CPU: 220 discriminates whether a signal read by an optical head 211 is either of the audio data or the computer data. When the read data are the audio data, the data are sent out through a DAC: 230, and the CPU: 220 informs the information processor of the mute signal of a low level. Further, when the read data are the computer data, the data are sent out to the information processor through a decoder circuit 240A and an interface circuit 240B, and the CPU: 220 outputs the mute signal of a high level to the information processor. High potential is applied to the gate of an FET switch 270, and an output of a driver 232 is lowered to a grounded level, and the occurrence of a noise is prevented.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent information processor in which the power saving operation of a sound function can be executed according to the activity of each peripheral equipment having an audio signal output. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not each peripheral equipment for outputting an audio signal is in a mute state, and a mixer circuit 37A is energy dissipated only for a period when all the peripheral equipment are in a mute state. Also, the mute state of each peripheral equipment and a 'power control flag' in the I/O register of an audio controller 37 are monitored, and even when the power control flag is erroneously set by software during the input of the audio signal from any peripheral equipment, or even when performance is started by the operation of an equipment also used for an audio function such as a CD-ROM drive side during the setting of the power control flag, the mixer circuit 37A can be surely re-enabled.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute data to a plurality of information processing devices in high speed. SOLUTION: An information processing system is provided with a plurality of information processing devices which mutually perform radio communication. The system has a distribution data receiver by which a plurality of respective information processing devices receive distribution data, which are the distribution data to be distributed to a plurality of respective information processing devices from an information processing device which was already distributed with the distribution data out of a plurality of information processing devices; a sending end selector which selects an information processing device which does not receive the distribution data yet out of a plurality of information processing devices, as a information processing device of the sending end of the distribution data; and a distribution data transmitter which transmits the distribution data to the information processing device which is selected by the sending end selection part using a frequency band which is not used by other information processing devices, in parallel to the transmission process of the distribution data by other information processing devices to further other information processing devices. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to connect to a predetermined access point at an optimum time even if the network name of the access point is hidden. SOLUTION: The apparatus is characterized by being provided with a connection list table 53 for storing identification information of a connectable network and information stored in association with the identification information, indicating that the access point for connecting to the network is a "hidden access point" which does not send its identification information; and an access point switching software 51 for confirming the connection by attempting to establish the connection to the "hidden access point" after obtaining the information from the connection list table 53, and obtaining the predetermined identification information by scanning the identification information for specifying the connection destination. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized multi-band communication device, which has a small number of antennas and is capable of diversity reception, and its communication method. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with two dual-band antennas (11, 12) which enable transmission and reception between two communication systems having mutually different communication frequency bands, two transmission and reception parts (21, 22) which modulate transmit data of the communication systems and demodulate receive data, switch means (13 to 18) for connecting the antennas 11 and 12 to the transmission and reception parts 21 and 22, and a switch control means (29) which performs switching control over the switch means; and a communication system which is ready to communicate and made active is selected first through SCAN operation and then the antenna to be made active when diversity reception is performed is selected. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a wireless LAN module for efficiently exchanging data. SOLUTION: First of all, it is decided whether or not a power source for supplying power is an AC adapter (step S201). When the power source is the AC adapter, data are exchanged (step S206). When the power source is not the AC adapter, on the other hand, the state of a link with an access point is measured (step S202) and further, when a radio wave strength is lower than a threshold as a result of measurement, a channel search is carried out (step S204) so that data are transmitted/received to a new access point (steps S205 and S206). In such a control method, when the power source is the AC adapter, data can be continuously exchanged without measuring the link state or carrying out the channel search.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function expansion substrate that is easily attached and detached to/from a motherboard. SOLUTION: In a CDC(Communication Daughter Card) 70 as a function expansion substrate introduced to the motherboard of a computer system, its surface is covered with an insulation sheet. In the CDC 70, an edge part of one end of the insulation sheet is extended to form a projecting part 95. A user can easily carry the CDC 70 and easily attach and detach the CDC 70 to/from the motherboard by grabbing the projecting part 95.
