Abstract:
It is an object of the present invention to control an environment for a computer's software execution appropriately to each software program to be executed by a computer. While a specific application program is being executed, if a volume value, etc. of output voices/sounds is updated, it is confirmed whether to register updated values of the volume, etc. before those values are registered in a volume setting data base in which the values are associated with a class name of a currently executed application program (170 to 182 figure 5). In addition, if a focused window on a screen is changed, the class name of the application program corresponding to a new window to be focused is obtained (156 to 162 figure 5). If a volume value, etc. of the application program are already registered in a volume setting data base (YES in 164 figure 5), the volume, etc. of the output voices/sounds are updated (166, 168 figure 5). Various system parameters are discussed including volume, balance, tone, brightness of a display screen and clock speed. Also disclosed is setting of the relevant parameters by moving a visual component (e.g. a slider bar, figure 4).

Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer program device to control an environment for a computer's software execution appropriately to each software program to be executed by a computer are disclosed. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive broadcast/multicast frames without hand shake with an access point to obtain a wireless WakeOn LAN. SOLUTION: A wireless LAN mini PCI module 60 connected to the computer device receives a broadcast frame and/or a multicast frame transmitted from a predetermined access point 80 in an RF module 62 via an RF antenna 70 in a state that no main power is applied to a system body, recognizes a magic packet included in the broadcast frame and/or multicast frame, and outputs a signal for applying the main power to the system body from a base band processor 63. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit wireless communication by means of a communication controller connecting to an antenna when the combination of the communication controller and the antenna is judged inappropriate in a computer device provided with the antenna. SOLUTION: The computer device is provided with a mini PCI slot 30 in which a wireless LAN card 31 comprising the wireless communication controller is attachable, and with a built-in diversity antenna 15. In this computer device, identity information (ID) of the attached wireless LAN card 31 is recognized by a BIOS executed by a CPU 21, the connection between the diversity antenna 15 and the wireless LAN card 31 is cut off in an initial condition where the wireless LAN card is attached, and a switch device 41 is provided for switching the connection from off to on based on the ID information recognized by the BIOS. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make one of a plurality of modems function when the plurality of modems are accepted by a notebook type computer. SOLUTION: When a computer device accepts a miniPCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) device 60 and a CDC(Communication Daughter Card) 70 which function as modems as extension devices, signals from an I/O bridge 21 are sent to both the miniPCI device 60 and CDC 70, but signals from the miniPCI device 60 are cut off by a bus switch 65 and only signals from the CDC 70 reach the I/O bridge 21, so that CDC 70 functions as a modem. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control execution environment when a computer executes software according to the software to be executed by the computer. SOLUTION: When a sound volume value, etc., of outputted sound are changed at a state that a specified application program is executed, the changed values, etc., are registered in a sound volume setting data base by making them correspond to class names of the application program under execution after confirming whether or not the sound volume value, etc., after change are registered (170 to 182). In addition, the class name of the application program corresponding to a window to newly obtain a focus is acquired when the focus of the window displayed on a display screen is switched (156 to 162) and when the sound volume value, etc., are registered in the sound volume setting data base (affirmative in 164), sound volume, etc., of the outputted sound are changed (166, 168).
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer device capable of reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: When a sensor detects that a LAN cable is unplugged from a LAN cable connector 63, an embedded controller 41 informs an OS of the removal of the LAN function and the OS in turn stops the use of the LAN function and then stops the operation of a LAN controller 61 and a transmitting/ receiving circuit 62 and shuts off the power supplied from a power circuit 50 to the LAN controller 61 and the transmitting/receiving circuit 62.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system, etc., capable of realizing a WOL(wake on LAN) in a PC provided with a core chip-in type I/O bridge. SOLUTION: Power is supplied to an I/O bridge 21 incorporating a LAN communicating part 80 by only connecting an AC adapter 51 to the PC to make the PC available. Besides, in a gate array 42, a signal (Power State Enable = L) is outputted to an AND gate 82 so as not to perform voltage supply to power supplies (Vcc-A and Vcc-B) of main parts of the PC 10 only by connecting the AC adapter 51, and a signal (Power State Enable = H) for performing voltage supply is outputted to the power supplies (Vcc-A and Vcc-B) of the main parts of the PC 10 for the first time when an operation for the WOL and normal power-on is performed. Namely, the gate array 42 takes responsibility for power supply control after connecting the AC adapter 51 to the PC 10.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the sound display of a reproduced sound from considerably being deteriorated independently of the configuration of a speaker unit used for reproduction of the sound. SOLUTION: When connecting 4 speaker units to a PC to reproduce a DVD, after placing a microphone at a listening position of a user, a single specific speaker generates a reference sound on the basis of reference sound data with a prescribed waveform, and a phase difference between the reference sound data and the sound detected by the microphone is calculated for each speaker (154-160), a mean value θF of phase difference of front speakers and a men value θR of phase difference of rear speakers are calculated (162), and a phase of sound data outputted from the rear speakers is inverted in the case of |θF-θR|>=90 degrees (164 and 166).
