Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a portable computer and the peripheral equipments, which correspond to a use mode that a user selects, by specifying the combination of a key position and a protection means. SOLUTION: A security key 213 provided at the back of the left side of a docking device 200 has three key positions. At the time of a single user mode, the removal of the notebook computer 100 is inhibited and the extraction of PC cards from a PC card slot 118 and a PC card slot 331 below the docking device is inhibited at a locking position. At the time of a multi user mode, the PC cards cannot freely be installed on the PC card slot 331 and the removal is protected in an ejecting position and an unlocking position.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase the kinds of identification signal which can be generated in a display device. CONSTITUTION: Selectors 14a-14d receive a vertical synchronizing signal through a line 25, and receive a frequency multiplication signal based on a horizontal synchronizing signal through a line 29. The output sides of the selectors 14a-14d are connected with four output lines 15a-15d assigned for the transmission of an identification signal. Each selectors 14a-14d includes a frequency-divider which frequency-divides the frequency multiplied signal, and generates plural frequency-division signals, and an open signal indicating an open state and a ground signal indicating a grounded state are generated inside. A control circuit 10 receives input information for designating the identification signal through a line 11, and applies a control signal corresponding to the input information through control lines 13a-13d to each selector 14a-14d. Each selector 14a-14d transmits any one of the vertical synchronizing signal, plural frequency- division signals, open signal, and ground signal to the corresponding output line as one signal element constituting the identification signal according to the control signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To suitably display both of a computer image output and a natural picture by comparing image information on a current scanning line with the image information of a corresponding position on a preceding scanning line and determining the execution of interpolating processing based on the compared result. CONSTITUTION: A line buffer 22 temporarily stores image information worth one horizontal scanning line. An averaging circuit 23 finds out a weighted mean value between the image information of each pixel on a current scanning line, which is outputted from a color/space conversion circuit 21 and the image information of a corresponding pixel on a preceding scanning line which is inputted from the line buffer 22 and outputs the mean value as interpolating information. A differential circuit 24 outputs a difference between the image information of the preceding corresponding pixel and that of the current pixel. A comparing circuit 25 compares the output of the circuit 24 with a prescribed threshold. A selection circuit 26 outputs interpolated information by regarding the current pixel as a pixel related to a computer image in a section more than the threshold and outputs the image information of a non-interpolated current pixel by regarding the current pixel as a pixel related to a natural image in a section less than the threshold.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To lower the source voltage of a final-stage amplifier, to reduce heat generation and electromagnetic wave radiation, and to improve the reliability by performing cutoff adjustment, luminance adjustment, etc., of a CRT by a clump circuit which is separated from the final-stage amplifier in term of direct current. CONSTITUTION: The source voltage B1 of the final-stage amplifier 5 is only high enough to secure the dynamic range needed for the reference DC level of an analog video signal after amplification and the analog video signal to be amplified. Then the cutoff adjustment of the CRT is made by applying a DC voltage to the base (C point) of a transistor 28 by a variable resistor 26 and the luminance adjustment of the CRT screen is made by applying a control voltage to the base (A point) of a transistor 27. Eventually, the cutoff adjustment, luminance adjustment, etc., of the CRT are made by controlling the clamp voltage of the clamp circuit 19 separated from the final-stage amplifier 5 in terms of direct current. Therefore, the source voltage of the final-stage amplifier 5 is reducible approximately to a half as high as usual.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To control the luminance of information on a screen whose luminance is adjusted by contrast adjustment so that it does not exceed prescribed maximum luminance when background luminance is increased by brightness adjustment, to prevent the fluctuation of background luminance and to hold gradation luminance information. CONSTITUTION: The signal amplification rate of an input video signal is adjusted by a contrast adjustment variable resistor 4. The black level of white luminance at the background is adjusted by a brightness adjustment variable resistor 11. A transmission conversion circuit 12 receives adjustment values by the variable resistors 4 and 11 as inputs, and generate two values with the adjustment values as parameters. It is detected whether the total value of the two values exceeds a prescribed value corresponding to maximum luminance which is previously decided on the display screen. When it does not exceed the value, contrast is not readjusted. When it exceeds the value, the amplification rate of the amplifier 3 is reduced so that the maximum luminance of the video signal does not exceed the maximum luminance level of CRT, which is previously decided.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prolong a service life of a CRT by detecting a state wherein no key input is done and reducing voltages applied to the heater element and cathode of a cathode-ray tube(CRT). CONSTITUTION: A control signal showing that there is no key input for a specific time is supplied from a personal computer 1 to a display device through a line 20. A bias circuit 8 reduces the voltage applied to the heater element 27 of the CRT 9 to lower the temperature of cathodes 22-24 from normal operation temperature by 7-30%. A video amplifying circuit 3 amplifies video signals of blue, green, and red supplied through the line 21 to respective specific voltages and applies them to the cathodes 22-24. At this time, the voltage level of the blue signal is shifted from a voltage level indicating the lowest luminance of a blue image by 5-25% and an anode current of 2-14 microamperes is supplied to display thin blue over the entire surface. Neither of images of green and red is displayed.
