Abstract: A method and system for supporting a handover between a circuit-switched (CS) domain and an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) domain to provide call continuity are disclosed. The system includes a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a wireless network. The WTRU includes a call continuity control entity for supporting call continuity between a CS domain and an IMS domain, and a media independent handover (MIH) entity configured to provide MIH services for providing information in a media independent manner. The wireless network includes an MIH entity for providing MIH services for collecting and forwarding information in a media independent manner. A handover between the CS domain and the IMS domain is triggered based on information obtained via MIH services from the MIH entities. The information may be exchanged via an MIH information server.

Abstract: A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed, Both the multi-stack WTRU and the technologically-diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function.; The WTRU is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internee protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent of the WTRU, whereby data destined for the WTRU is routed via the home agent through a new tunnel established between the home agent and a foreign agent based on the CoA.

Abstract: Una primera función de transferencia independiente de medios (MIHF) recibe una solicitud de descubrimiento de capacidades de transferencia independiente de medios (MIH) de una segunda MIHF y genera un mensaje de respuesta de descubrimiento de capacidades de MIH, incluyendo uno o más parámetros. Entonces la primer MIHF envía así la respuesta de descubrimiento de capacidades de MIH a la segunda MIHF. En base a la información contenida en la respuesta de descubrimiento de capacidades de MIH, la primera MIHF puede recibir un mensaje de solicitud de transferencia de la segunda MIHF. El uno o más parámetros incluidos dentro del mensaje de respuesta de descubrimiento indican las tecnologías específicas para las cuales la primera MIHF soporta una transferencia de MMB. El uno o más parámetros pueden incluir una lista de las tecnologías para las cuales se soporta una transferencia de hacer-antes de20 romperse (MMB). Por ejemplo, un parámetro puede usarse una estructura de bit específica en donde cada bit es una representación de Boolean de si la transferencia de MMB se soporta para un tipo específico de tecnología.

Abstract: Procedimiento de establecimiento de un enlace de comunicaciones para una unidad de transmisión/recepción inalámbrica multi-pila, WTRU, (110), en el que la WTRU (110) implementa una pila de protocolos que incluye un plano (310) de usuario, un traspaso independiente del medio, MIH, plano (330, 930) de gestión para realizar una operación MIH, y un plano (330, 930) de gestión de traspaso específico de la tecnología, estando caracterizado el procedimiento porque comprende: recibir tramas baliza transmitidas por al menos una red de acceso (102, 104, 202); determinar si las tramas baliza soportan traspaso independiente del medio, información MIH; leer (1008) el contenido de las tramas baliza detectadas si se determina que las tramas baliza soportan información MIH; pasar (1010) la información MIH encontrada en el contenido de las tramas baliza a una función traspaso, HOF, (324, 924) de una pila de protocolos (300) en la WTRU; procesar en la HOF la información MIH pasada; y establecer (1012) un enlace de comunicaciones para la WTRU en base a la información MIH procesada.
