    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a color-developing composition which comprises an aqueous solution containing a neutralized dialkyl phosphate, develops colors stably and safely due to not containing pigments or dyes and can change the colors continuously with the change of temperature or the like due to utilizing the light interference phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:This composition is an aqueous solution containing 0.1-10, preferably 0.5-3wt.% of a neutralized dialkyl phosphate of the formula (R is a 8-36C alkyl; X is H, ammonium, a 2-3C alkanolammonium, a 1-4C alkylammonium, a basic amino acid, or morpholine).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a stable liq. dispersion of superfine grains free from the flocculation by vaporizing a material of solid at ordinary temp. in vacuum or under low pressure, depositing the vapor on the surface of a cooled wall along with the vapor of a specified coating material, freezing the vapors and then melting the frozen materials to obtain the liq. dispersion. CONSTITUTION:A material of solid at ordinary temp. is vaporized in vacuum or under low pressure, and the vapor is deposited on the surface of a cooled wall along with the vapors of the dispersion medium having a relatively low affinity for the solid material and coating material having a high affinity for both the solid material and the dispersion medium and made to the frozen state. The frozen solid is then melted to obtain a liq. dispersion of the superfine grains of the solid material. Noble metals, alkaline-earth metals, the org. matter such as phthalocyanine are exemplified as the material of solid at ordinary temp. The dispersion medium has the solubility of about g in 100g of solvent such as hexane and benzene.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve a stability against flocculation and to make an exchange of a dispersion easy by dispersing fine grains of a metal colloidally in a dispersion medium by using a quaternary ammonium salt represented by a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:A ultra-fine particle colloidal dispersion is prepared by dispersing fine grains of a metal colloidally in a dispersion medium by using a dispersant composed of a quaternary ammonium salt represented by the formula I [wherein at least one of R1, R2 and R3 are straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group, the rest of them are methyl, ethyl, benzyl or -(CH2CH2O)n-H (n is 1-5) group, R4 is methyl or ethyl group and X- is anion]. The metal grains used have grain sizes of not larger than 0.1mu, preferably 1-30nm, and the concentration of metal grains in the dispersion is 0.01-90wt.%.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair-treating agent having constant viscosity, capable of being uniformly coated on hair by a small amount, having high rinsing activities and excellent in sense of use and persistence by including a specific proportion of a rinse component, and water or an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This hair-treating agent includes (A) a cationic surfactant of the formula (R is a 8-22C alkyl or an alkenyl; R is H, methyl, ethyl, an 8-22C alkyl or an alkenyl; R and R are each H, methyl or ethyl; A is a halogen or an organic anion), etc., (B) a higher alcohol (e.g. cetyl alcohol), (C) an oily component (e.g. a liquid paraffin), (D) water or an organic solvent (e.g. glycerol). The content of the components (A+B+C) is 10-50wt.%, and that of the component D is 50-90wt.%. Further, the weight ratio of the components A/B is 0.6-10, and that of the components C/B is 2-10. The hair-treating agent includes 0.1-10wt.% water-soluble polymer having 1,000-1,000,000 average molecular weight. The hair-treating agent is preferably used as a hair rinse, a hair conditioner, etc., having 2,000-10,000cp viscosity at 30 deg.C.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent compsn. having an excellent foaming power, a good feel during washing, and excellent smoothness, etc., after washing by using a cationic polymer in combination with a specific anionic surfactant or further with a specific metal salt. SOLUTION: A detergent compsn. contains (A) a cationic polymer, and (B) an anionic surfactant having Mg or Ca as the counter ion of the anionic residue [e.g. an imidazoline surfactant of the formula (wherein R is a 5-23C alkyl; and M is the counter ion of the anionic residue), etc.). Another detergent compsn. contains (A) a cationic polymer, (C) an anionic surfactant having an alkali metal, ammonium or an alkanolamine as the counter ion of the anionic residue, and (D) Mg or Ca hydrochloride or sulfate. They have an excellent foaming power, a good feel during washing, and an excellent conditioning effect involving smoothness, etc., after washing to be useful as a daily shampoo, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the water repellency of a solid (a machine part, a tool, an industrial good, etc.) required to be water-repellent by forming at least a part of the surface of the solid into a specific multistage projection structure. CONSTITUTION:At least a part of a water-repellent surface of a solid is formed into a multistep projection structure which comprises a projection structure A with a larger period and a projection structure B with a smaller period and has a multiplication factor of the surface area of 5 or higher and a period of 1-10mm. The multistage projection structure is formed by mechanical process or by chemical reaction, e.g. by electrolytic plating or by precipitating crystals or agglomerating particles on the solid surface. The formation of the multistage projection structure improves the water-repellency of rainwear, kitchen utensils, sanitary goods, and other materials, tools, and industrial goods requiring water repellency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent coarsening of fine grains due to their aggregation by introducing the fine grains together with vapor of an organic solvent into a cooled compartment to form a frozen solid of this organic solvent surrounding those fine grains and then melting it in the presence of a surface active agent. CONSTITUTION:Fine grains 7 are generated by heating and evaporating a metal element, an alloy or an inorganic compound at several hundred- several thou sand deg.C with a heater 2 in an atmosphere of inert gas 4, etc. These fine grains 7 are introduced into a compartment 3, which is cooled by a refrigerant 9 such as liquid nitrogen, together with an inert gas 4 such as argon and an organic solvent vapor 3, which is to be an organic dispersion medium afterward, and a frozen solid 6 of those fine grains and the solvent surrounding them is formed. Next, the frozen solid 6 is melted by removing the refrigerant 9 and raising the wall temperature of the compartment 3, but it is necessary to introduce a surface active agent 8 into or nearby the frozen solid 6 before it melts.
