    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube emitter material capable of maintaining a sufficient life when it is used for emission at a current density exceeding 2A/cm and suitable for a large screen, high luminance, and high resolution by dispersing or separating at least one kind of alkaline earth metal carbonates in a mixed crystal or a solid solution. SOLUTION: At least one kind of alkaline earth metal carbonates is dispersed or separated in a mixed crystal or a solid solution of at least two kinds of alkaline earth metal carbonates to form this emitter used as a cathode-ray tube emitter material. The alkaline earth metal carbonate is fitted on the base substance of a cathode, and it is thermally decomposed in vacuum and formed into an alkaline earth metal oxide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the cost, and to facilitate the improvement for high display density by setting a product of a distance between a negative electrode and a positive electrode and the helium gas filling pressure within a specified range, and flowing the discharge current discharged from the negative electrode to the positive electrode through a conductive phosphor to obtain the light emission. CONSTITUTION:Plural negative electrodes 2 made of aluminum are arranged 3 in parallel with each other on a glass substrate 1, and plural linear positive electrodes 4 made of ITO film (transparent conductive film) are arranged in parallel with each other on a glass substrate in a manner of orthogonally crossing the negative electrodes 2. A conductive red light emitting phosphor 8, a conductive green light emitting phosphor 9, a conductive blue light emitting phosphor 10 for exciting low speed electron beams are formed over the whole surface of the positive electrodes 4. The inside of a discharge space 5 held by a spacer 7 is filled with He gas, of which filling pressure is set at a value for satisfying a condition that a product of a distance between the negative electrode and the positive electrode and the filling pressure is within a range of 95-140Torr.mm. Voltage at a discharge starting voltage or higher is applied between the desired negative electrode and the desired positive electrode to obtain the light emission of the concerned phosphor by the gas discharge in a discharge space on an intersection of that negative electrode 2 and that positive electrode 4.

SOLUTION: An emitter to be used for negative electrode of an electron tube is mainly composed of an alkaline earth metal oxide, which includes barium, and composed of an alkaline earth metal oxide grain 13, which includes impure metal, and an alkaline earth metal oxide 11, which does not includes impure metal. With this structure, a negative electrode, which has a long lifetime and which can cope with high current and high density, can be realized.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a negative electrode for an electron tube by which both a cutoff variation and an emission characteristic are improved by laying specific alkaline earth metal salt on a base body for the negative electrode of the electron tube, and constituting the negative electrode by generating an emitter by processing. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode for an electron tube is constituted in such a way that alkaline earth metal carbonate (for example, barium carbonate strontium) containing at least Ba as alkaline earth metal is laid on a base body for a negative electrode of an electron tube and is thermally decomposed in a vacuum and an emitter mainly composed of alkaline earth metal oxide is generated. In this negative electrode, a mixture of alkaline earth metal carbonate crystal grains of two or more kinds of different shapes, preferably, two kinds of a spherical shape and a resin shape having a branch or two kinds of a spherical shape and a bar shape or three kinds of a spherical shape, a resin shape and a bar shape is used as the alkaline earth metal carbonate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To relatively easily grasp the quantity of change with the lapse of time of the mutual space between a cathode and a grid electrode of an electron gun and the cut-off voltage at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: A double-bulb, which is provided with a cathode 12 manufacture with the design reference as same as the cathode to be incorporated in an electron gun for CRT and an anode 14 arranged in parallel with an emitter 13 of the cathode 12, is manufactured. This double-bulb is operated in a space charge limited area for a long time, and the voltage-current characteristic thereof at the initial time and the later time is measured so as to compute the mutual space between the cathode 12 and the anode 14 of this double-bulb on the basis of the measured values and a relational formula of the voltage-current of the double-bulb. Quantity of change with the lapse of time of the mutual space between the cathode and the grid electrode of the electron gun is presumed on the basis of the quantity of change with the lapse of time of the computed mutual space. The cut-off voltage is obtained by the electric field simulation.

CONSTITUTION:A number of band cathodes 19 are arranged in one direction on the inside surface of the back glass plate 18 of a gas-sealed flat envelope 17, and a number of band anodes 19 three-dimensionally intersecting the cathodes 19 are arranged on the inside surface of the front glass plate 20 of the flat envelope 17, and narrow insulating barriers 23 are provided among the anodes. The cathodes 19 are of tunnel effect type and their electron emission area 27 is provided in a position which should not be near the insulating barriers 23.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method by which the whole area of a panel can uniformly be aged. CONSTITUTION:A panel 1, having row electrodes 2a, 2b... 2n and line electrodes 4a, 4b... 4n three-dimensionally crossing the row electrodes, with the odd- numbered row electrodes 2a, 2c... 2m having their feeder terminals placed at one end portion of a glass base supporting the row electrodes and the even- numbered row electrodes 2b, 2d... 2n having their feeder terminals placed at the other end portion of the glass base, is aged. The odd-numbered row electrodes and the even-numbered row electrodes adjacent the odd-numbered ones are made in pairs and the feeder terminal of each pair is connected to one end of a power source 3 and the line electrodes are sequentially connected to the other end of the power source 3. Therefore, almost the same voltages are applied to all of discharge cells and discharge currents can be equalized, so the speed at which the aging process proceeds, luminance, and dispersion of the discharge starting voltages can be reduced.
