    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the lifetime of a negative electrode by fitting an emitter formed of an alkaline earth metal oxide crystal grain, which includes impure metal, and the alkaline earth metal oxide crystal grain, which does not include impure metal, onto a board for negative electrode. SOLUTION: An emitter to be used for negative electrode of an electron tube is mainly composed of an alkaline earth metal oxide, which includes barium, and composed of an alkaline earth metal oxide grain 13, which includes impure metal, and an alkaline earth metal oxide 11, which does not includes impure metal. With this structure, a negative electrode, which has a long lifetime and which can cope with high current and high density, can be realized.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To surely synthesize needle crystal carbonate having a length ratio of a longer axis to a shorter axis of crystals within a specific range, having uniform characterics as an electron tube cathode, and having an excellent emission life by setting the pH value of mixed solution of nitrate below in a specific value synthesizing reaction of the carbonate for the electron tube cathode. CONSTITUTION:Barium nitrate and strontium nitrate are dissolved in pure water to form mixed solution (A) of nitrate of the same specific concentration. Next, sodium carbonate is dissolved in pure water so as to form sodium carbonate solution (B) of a specific conceutration. The liquid (A) is agitated, and the liquid (B) is added gradually while liquid temperature is kept constant, so carbonate including barium and strontium is produced by (Ba, Sr)(No3)2+Na2 CO3 (Ba, Sr)CO3+2NaNO3. As the liquid (B) is added, a pH value increases from its initial value. When the pH value become 9, addition of the liquid (B) is stopped. In this method, needle crystal carbonate having a length ratio of a long axis to a short axis within a range of 4:1-20:1 is obtained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a negative electrode, of which lifetime is prolonged so as to improve the profitability, by including at least one kind of metal, which is selected from a group of vanadium or the like, with the oxide of alkaline rare earth metal, which includes barium, as an electron emitting material. SOLUTION: A metal base 3 is provided in an opening part of one end of a cylindrical sleeve 2, and the base 3 is mainly composed of nickel, and the base 3 includes a fine quantity of reduction element such as magnesium. The base 3 is coated with the electron emitting material composed of alkaline rare earth metal oxide 5, which includes barium or the like, and vanadium 6. Namely, the base 3, which is mainly composed of nickel, is coated with the electron emitting material, which is mainly composed of the oxide of alkaline rare earth metal and which includes at least one kind of vanadium, niobium, tantalum at 0.002-6wt.% in relation to the total weight of the oxide. With this structure, emission current can be stabilized for a long time, and a profitable device having a long lifetime can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a carbonate excellent in emission life properties as a cathode of an electronic tube by surely, easily and steadily preparing a large needle-shaped carbonate crystal at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of nitrate salts of an alkaline earth metal mixture mainly containing barium is mixed and reacted with a carbonate ion- containing aqueous solution to precipitate carbonate salts of the alkaline earth metal mixture mainly containing barium. In this process, a needle-shaped carbonate crystal having the length of main crystal axis in the range of 2-10mum is obtained by using an aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate as the carbonate ion-containing aqueous solution.

Namely the metal base 3, which is mainly composed of nickel, is coated with the electron emitting material formed of the particles, which include at least one of titanium, zirconium and hafnium. With this structure, lowering of the emission current at the time of operating a device for a long time can be reduced, and lifetime can be prolonged.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide long lifetime while restricting the lowering of the emission current and the lowering of the cutoff voltage by specifying the melting point of the metal particles of an oxide negative electrode formed by coating a negative electrode substrate mainly composed of Ni with an electron emitting material layer composed of the mixture of the alkaline earth metal oxide and the metal particles except for Au. SOLUTION: Melting point of the metal particles of a coated oxide negative electrode is set at 750 deg.C or higher under 1 normal atmosphere, desirably at 900-1200 deg.C. As a metal particle, Cu, Ge or Ag is desirably used. The oxide negative electrode is formed of a heater coil 1, a cylindrical sleeve 2, in which the heater coil 1 is provided, a substrate 3 provided at an opening part of one end of the sleeve 2 and including a fine quantity of Mg, and an electron emitting material layer 4 composed of the alkaline earth metal oxide 5 coated on the substrate 3 and the metal particles 6 except for the alkaline metal oxide. The metal particles added to the electron emitting material layer 4 improves the electrical conductivity of the electron emitting material layer 4, and has the work for maintaining the emission current.

SOLUTION: At least one kind of alkaline earth metal carbonates is dispersed or separated in a mixed crystal or a solid solution of at least two kinds of alkaline earth metal carbonates to form this emitter used as a cathode-ray tube emitter material. The alkaline earth metal carbonate is fitted on the base substance of a cathode, and it is thermally decomposed in vacuum and formed into an alkaline earth metal oxide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the mis-landing of an electron beam in such an arrangement that a shadow mask formed of invar materials or the like has a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than that of a glass bulb. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 2 provided within a face panel part 7 having a fluorescent film 4 on the inner surface of a front wall has a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the face panel part 7. In this arrangement, a spring 8 extending from the outer surface of a frame 6 is formed of a bimetal constituted by bonding a first metal plate 8a located on the fluorescent film 4 side with a second metal plate 8b located on a electron gun side having a larger coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the metal plate 8a. One end edge of the second metal plate 8b is fixed on the outer surface of the side wall of the frame 6, and a hole on the other end edge is fitted into a stud pin standing upright on the inner surface of the side wall of the face panel part 7, thereby making it feasible to supply a color picture tube showing an excellent color purity characteristic for both a cold district and a warm distict.
