    Abstract: An electrical wire trap-type terminal (10) includes a pair of terminal arms (16) projecting from a base (12). The terminal arms are spring loaded whereby, when the terminal arms are moved to a conductor receiving position, the terminal arms will return automatically to a conductor trapping position. The terminal arms define a jaw (18) configured such that relative movement of the terminal arms to the conductor receiving position opens the jaw to receive the conductor (36), the jaw trapping the conductor when the terminal arms are released and in their conductor trapping position. A housing (34) is provided in conjunction with the terminal and through which the conductor (36) is inserted into the jaw (18). The housing is effective to open the jaw to the conductor receiving position.

    Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (10) is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board (12) which includes at least a pair of mounting post-receiving holes (24) and at least one solder tail-receiving aperture (25). The assembly includes a housing (18) having at least a pair of mounting posts (22) for positioning in the holes (24) in the printed circuit board. At least one contact member (34) is mounted on the housing (18) and includes a solder tail (44) for positioning in the aperture (58) in the printed circuit board. The solder tail (44) has a generally straight side (44a) and a projecting hook (44b) on an opposite side (44c) for retaining the connector assembly on the printed circuit board. The width of the solder tail between the straight side (44a) and the outermost point of the hook (44b) on the opposite side (44c) is no greater than the width of the aperture (58), and the centerline (57) of the solder tail (44) between its sides is offset, in the direction of the hook, relative to the centerline (60) of the aperture (58) when the mounting posts (22) are aligned with the holes (24) in the printed circuit board (12).

    Abstract: A surface mount electrical connector (10) includes an insulating housing (12) having a through receptacle (16, 18), the housing being mountable to a printed circuit board (46). A spring contact (14) is mounted in the receptacle of the housing and includes a contact pad (26) at one end exposed at the bottom of the housing for surface engaging a circuit trace on the printed circuit board. A contact cusp (34) is formed from the opposite end of the spring contact and projects from the top of the housing for engagement by a complementary contact component. A mounting post (30) is provided intermediate the ends of the spring contact for fixing in a mounting aperture in the housing. The spring contact is a planar stamped metal component disposed in the housing with the plane of the contact generally transverse to the top and bottom of the housing. The contact cusp (34) is preloaded within the housing.

    Abstract: An ejector mechanism is disclosed for use with a connector apparatus which includes a housing into which an IC pack is loaded and from which it is ejected. The three part ejector mechanism includes a one-piece eject lever and a one-piece actuator. The eject lever is pivotally mounted on the housing for ejecting the IC pack from the housing. The actuator lever is movably mounted within an integrally molded channel on the housing and is engageable with the eject lever to effect actuation thereof. Complementary interengaging portions of the housing, the eject lever and the actuator cooperate to effect the relative movements therebetween without the need of any extraneous components.
