    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain almost the same stable flotation as that of simultaneous starting by making a time of transient build-up current flow very short and staggering plural bearing starting times. CONSTITUTION:A current necessary for a control reduces abruptly and a margin for starting a next magnetic bearing is produced in a power supply capacity when a flotation article 1 is moved in its floating direction even if the capacity of a power supply 7 has a transient build-up capacity only for one magnetic bearing. Further, a time of a transient build-up current flow is very short because the movement of an article in the transient build-up time is very fast. Accordingly, plural magnetic bearings 2, 3,... can be started successively and stable flotation can be performed can be performed without largely disarranging the position of the flotation article 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic bearing with excellent controllability in spite of reduced number of parts by a method wherein the number of void magnetic paths of a magnetic bearing is made to be three including exclusive paths for permanent magnets and one electromagnetic coil is employed. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic bearing 10 is applied to a rotary machine, the stators 12 of the magnetic bearings 10 are arranged respectively at both ends of a fixed shaft 11 and the rotor part 13 is arranged rotatably corresponding to the stator part 12. The rotor parts 13 are connected with each other through a connecting rod 14 made up of nonmagnetic substance. The stator part 12 is made up of an electromagnetic york 16 which is void in its inner part and an electromagnetic coil 17 is wound in its cavity and a cylindrical permanent magnet 18 is installed on the upper end surface. On the other hand, the rotor part 13 is made up of a york 19 of a circular magnetic body, while the 1st void magnetic path 20 is formed between an end part facing the magnet 18 and the magnet 18, and the 2nd, the 3rd void magnetic paths 22, 23 are formed between the other end of a T-shaped section of the york 19 and the opening end of the york 16.
