    Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower the discharging voltage and to reduce the power consumption while to facilitate the manufacture, by employing barium peroxide or barium nitrate or their compound. CONSTITUTION:0.5-30wt% of barium peroxide or barium nitrate or barium hydroxide or their compound is mixed with hexa-boride of rare earth element, then said compound 2 is mixed with printing oil to produce a paste or suspended in a suspension liquid and adhered through print, electrodeposition, dip or spray onto the base metal 1 of cathode. Then it is heated to dissolve the barium compound to produce barium oxide which is used to secure the hexa-boride of rare earth element to the base metal 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of DC type PDP(DC type gas discharge indication panel) having low operating voltage and power consumption, by forming a comlex metal oxide such as the oxide of alkali earth metal element on a cathode basic metal as a porous adhesion layer. CONSTITUTION:An oxide or sulfide or complex metal oxide 2 with aluminum of an electrically insulative alkali earth element having low work function and high melting point is formed as a porous adhesion layer 2' on a DC type PDP cathode basic metal 1 through such as plasma ejection. Consequently a DC type PDP having low operating voltage and power consumption can be easily manufactured without requiring the high temperature heating process when compared with conventional one.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the firing potential and the discharge-maintaining voltage of a cathode, by forming a magnesium-oxide layer on either magnesium or a magesium alloy to provide a cathode structure. CONSTITUTION:A base-body metal 1 is coated with either magnesium or a magnesium alloy 2 by means of hot dipping or the like. After that, a layer 3 made of magnesium oxide is formed on the surface of the base-body metal 1, a cathode for a direct-current gas-discharge display panel being constituted. As a result, the discharge-maintaining voltage of the cathode becomes 70V or below, since the work function of mangesium is 3.46eV and that of magnesium oxide is 1.9-2.0eV; the work function of an iron-nickel alloy is in the vicinity of 4.5eV and the discharge- maintaining voltage of that is approximately 170V.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify structure by facing a belt or wire-type cathode electrode to an anode electrode and winding it around the cathode electrode winding frame which is inserted between a pair of substrates, in parallel. CONSTITUTION:The display panel 1 is constituted by sequentially overlapping and airtightly sealing the cathode electrode winding frame 32 and the base substrate 32. Three wires A, B, and C are wound around the cathode electrode winding frame 32, retaining the respective specified intervals and parallel status. This permits the cathode electrode to be formed. The rectangular groove 34 in which the cathode electrode winding frame 32 is housed is provided on the base substrate 2. The winding frame 32 is housed in this groove 34 and the opposing surfaces of the front substrate 3 and the base substrate 2 are bonded using sealing glass.
