Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided that support enhanced international dialing in cellular systems using handset based code dialing. According to one aspect, the handset analyzes the dialed digits before sending the dialed number to the network. If the dialed digits begin with the country code of the area from which the call is placed, the country code will be removed and a national access code will be added in front of the digit strings. For international calls the dialed number may begin with a + indicator, followed by a country coded, an area code, and a customer number. The digit string is automatically translated into a new number based on the numbering plan of the area in which a call is being placed. The new number can then be sent to the network to set up the call.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which 1x CSFB for communication of SMS messages in an LTE environment may be avoided. An IWS may receive a paging request message from a MSC, wherein the paging request message includes a first SMS service option indicating communication of a SMS message using a first RAT. The IWS may avoid an ESR procedure by analyzing the first SMS service option in the paging request message. Further the IWS may establish a common channel connection between the IWS and a target UE using a second RAT, wherein the first RAT and the second RAT are different.

A circuit and algorithm are disclosed for a step2 search of a three step search of synchronization channels in a W-CDMA system. A mobile terminal of the CDMA system includes an RF downconverter for receiving I and Q signals. A searcher, responsive to the I and Q signals, includes a first correlator for correlating the I and Q signals with a primary synchronization code on a primary synchronization channel, and a second correlator for correlating I and Q signals with a secondary synchronization code on a secondary synchronization channel. The correlated I and Q signals are added for each of the secondary synchronization codes. An energy calculator and a maximum energy detector use the correlated I and Q signals of both the primary and secondary synchronization channels to detect the most likely scrambling code group of secondary synchronization codes.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A wireless device such as an in-vehicle system (IVS) may transmit an emergency call (eCall) message to a third party eCall server using a communication session which may be packet based or circuit based. The eCall message may include session information and telematics data. The third party eCall server may relay the session information and telematics data to a public safety answering point (PSAP). For example, the third party eCall server may generate an automatic text-to-speech message that is transmitted to the PSAP over a public communications network. In some cases, the third party eCall server may transmit a response to the wireless device including metadata based on the telematics data transmitted in the eCall message. The eCall message may also include a call-back number, and the PSAP may contact the wireless device directly using the call-back number.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose techniques for transmitting uplink transmissions in special subframes for LTE TDD systems. Certain aspects provide a method that generally includes determining a region of uplink transmissions in uplink pilot timeslot (UpPTS), wherein the UpPTS comprises three or more symbols allocated for uplink transmissions, and transmitting in the UpPTS.
Abstract:
Various embodiments are directed to methods and apparatus efficiently utilizing WAN system resources that would otherwise go unused for device to device communications. In one exemplary embodiment the air link resources correspond to Guard Periods (GPs) in Special Sub-Frames of an LTE TDD WAN system. In various embodiments, wireless communications devices (106, 108, 110, 112, 114, 116) e.g., UE devices with device to device communications capability, self-configure to operate using a portion of the GP such as not to interfere with ongoing WAN signaling. Thus the WAN signaling and device to device signaling do not interfere with respect to one another. The D2D device receives from the eNB information concerning the GP duration and the maximum propagation delay in both the WAN and D2D cases and configures based on these informations the transmission and reception timing offsets and the cyclic prefix length for the D2D link.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating authentication of access terminal identities and for recording a usage relationship between a valid access terminal identity and a user identity. An access terminal and a validation server are both provisioned with corresponding validation keys. The access terminal may determine that a user identity is not recorded for use with the access terminal, and may send a report message to report a usage relationship between the access terminal identity and the user identity, where the report message is signed with a signature based on the validation key. The validation server authenticates the signature using the validation key in the validation server. The validation server may record the usage relationship between the authenticated access terminal identity and the user identity in a database, which database records may be employed to determine whether an access terminal requesting network access is authorized or unauthorized.

In a particular embodiment, a circuit switched (CS) paging message is received at a multi-mode communication device. The CS paging message is received when a packet switched (PS) service is active at the multi-mode communication device. A PS precedence feature is activated at the multi-mode communication device that prioritizes PS communications over CS communications. A CS bearer connection is established with a CS network in response to receiving the CS paging message, and an incoming call notification message that identifies a calling party is received from the CS network. Upon receipt of the incoming call notification message, the CS bearer connection with the CS network is released. A notification of a missed incoming call from the calling party is displayed (e.g., substantially in real-time) via a user interface.
