Abstract: V datovém komunikacním systému, který využívá prenosu s promennou rychlostí, se vylepšuje vysokorychlostní prenos dat v paketech dopredného spoje a snižuje prenosové zpoždení. Prenos dat dopredným spojem je casove multiplexován a základnová stanice (4) vysílá v každém casovém slotu na jednu mobilní stanici (6) nejvyšší datovou rychlostí podporovanou dopredným spojem. Datová rychlost se stanoví pomocí nejvyšší namerené hodnoty pomeru signálu dopredného spoje, jak ho zmerila mobilní stanice. Po zjištení, že datový paket byl prijatý chybne, vyšle mobilní stanice (6) základnové stanici (4) zprávu NACK. Následkem zprávy NACK se chybne prijaté datové pakety vyšlou znovu. Datové pakety mohou být vysílány mimo sekvenci pomocí použití sekvencního císla, které identifikuje každou datovou jednotku v datových paketech. Zpusob pro vysokorychlostní prenos dat v paketech základnové stanice (4) na mobilní stanici (6), obsahuje následující kroky zmerení na mobilní stanici (6) skupiny parametru spojených se signály dopredného spoje od alespon jedné základnové stanice (4), výber na mobilní stanici (6) vybrané základnové stanice (4) z alespon jedné základnové stanice (4) na základe skupiny parametru, vyslání zprávy s informacemi o rízení rychlosti z mobilní stanice (6) na vybranou základnovou stanici (4) v každém casovém slotu na zpetném spoji a prijetí dat na mobilní stanici (6) z vybrané základnové stanice (4) datovou rychlostí podle zprávy s informacemi o rízení rychlosti, pokud je prítomen datový paket smerovaný na mobilní stanici (6). Dále zpusob obsahuje kroky prijetí zprávy s informacemi o rízení rychlosti z mobilní stanice (6) na základnové stanici

Abstract: A cellular communication system in which a system user and another user communicate with each other by way of information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals transmitted via a cell-site in which system: the system user comprises a transmitter for transmitting information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals to said cell-site, a receiver for receiving information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals from said cell-site and means for measuring signal quality in said information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals received by the system user; the cell-site comprises a transmitter for transmitting information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals to said system user, a receiver for receiving information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals from said system user and adjusting means for adjusting the power of information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals transmitted from the cell-site ; ; and power control means is provided for controlling the transmission power of the information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals by measuring the signal power in the information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals received by the system user and transmitting data representing the measured power to the cell-site by way of the information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals, the adjusting means being responsive to the data in the information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals from the system user to adjust the power in the information carrying spread spectrum modulated signals transmitted by the cell-site.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling transmission power in a variable rate communication system is disclosed. The method disclosed provides for a closed loop power control method. A first remote station controls the transmission power of a second remote station by transmitting a rate dependent power control signal to the second remote communication station. Since only the second communication knows its transmission rate a priori, it must determine its course of action in accordance with both the received power control signal and the knowledge of its transmission rate.
