Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for over-the-air (OTA) service programming. SOLUTION: The communications network and method for applying over the air service programming to a mobile station (2), where the mobile station transmits a service programming request to a communications network, which results in the mobile station (2) being connected to a customer service center (26). The customer service center (26) queries the user of mobile station (2) for information in response to which the customer service center (26) selects a home location register (18) and an authentication center (22) within the communication network with which the mobile station (2) is to be associated. Service programming information associated with the mobile station (2) is transferred from the home location register (18) and/or the authentication center (22) into mobile station (2). Abstract:
Interference that occurs during wireless communication may be managed by subframe time reuse. A method, apparatus amend medium of communication determines interfering subframe gating sequences. The transmission gating in a home access point is adjusted by determining a first gating sequence from a first unplanned access point. A second gating sequence is selected based on the first gating sequence, wherein the first and second gating sequences are non-interfering. Signals are transmitted according to the second gating sequence from a second unplanned access point to an associated access terminal.
Abstract:
The present invention is a novel and improved method for providing broadcast short message services (SMS) in a communication network. It is an objective of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus that insures the successful transmission of the broadcast message while minimizing the impact of providing the short messaging service on overall system capacity. Messages to be broadcast to a group of users are provided by broadcast page generator (20), to a braoadcast message buffer (24). The timing of the the message transmissions is controlled by a page transmit controller (34), and the message is modulated on to an appropriate channel by modulator (26).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for arranging various types of data, and at various rates, into a uniquely structured format for transmission. Data for transmission formatting may be speech data provided by vocoder (14) or different types of secondary traffic. The data organized into frames of a predetermined time duration for transmission by a microprocessor (18). The data frames are organized, depending on the data, to be at one of several data rates. Vocoder data is provided by vocoder (14) at one of several data rates and is organized in the frame according to a predetermined format. Frames may be formatted with a sharing of vocoder data with non-vocoder data to be at a highest frame data rate. Different types of non-vocoder data may be organized so as to also be at the highest frame data rate. Additional control data may be provided within the data frames to support various aspects of the transmission and recovery upon reception.
