Methods and apparatus for acknowledgment of multiple user uplink are provided. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving a first wireless message from a first station at least partially concurrently with receiving a second wireless message from a second station, generating a first acknowledgment message in response to receiving the first wireless message, generating a second acknowledgement message in response to receiving the second wireless message, and transmitting the first acknowledgment message to the first station at least partially concurrently with transmitting the second acknowledgement message to the second station.

Systems and methods of clear channel assessment on a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes determining a clear channel assessment (CCA) threshold based on a first transmission bandwidth, performing a first back-off procedure based on the determined clear channel assessment threshold; and transmitting a first wireless message in response to a completion of the first back-off procedure.

Systems and methods for determining primary channel availability are disclosed. One aspect is a method in a wireless communications system including a first primary channel having first and second frequency spectrum bandwidths. The second frequency spectrum bandwidth includes the first frequency spectrum bandwidth. The method includes determining whether a first preamble has been detected on the second primary channel during a first threshold period of time, determining whether a second preamble has been detected on the first primary channel during a second threshold period of time, determining whether a guard interval has been detected on the second primary channel during a third threshold period of time, determining whether the second primary channel is idle based at least in part on detection of the first preamble, the second preamble and the guard interval, and transmitting a wireless message based at least in part on whether the second primary channel is idle.

Systems and methods for aggregation of multiple physical protocol data units are disclosed. In one aspect, a method of transmitting a physical layer packet to a plurality of wireless devices is disclosed. The method includes generating a physical layer packet, the packet including a plurality of payloads, wherein at least one of the payloads comprises first data addressed to a first device and second data addressed to a second device, and wherein each payload is preceded by at least a signal field in the physical layer packet, and transmitting the physical layer packet.

In a particular embodiment, a method includes applying a first stream to antenna mapping scheme to a preamble portion of a packet. The method further includes applying a second stream to antenna mapping scheme to a data portion of the packet. The second stream to antenna mapping scheme is applied to the data portion of the packet but not to the preamble portion of the packet. The second stream to antenna mapping scheme includes a circulation scheme or a cyclic delay diversity (CDD) scheme.

Systems, methods, and devices for setting up a relay in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a transmitter of a station is configured to transmit a relay request to an access point. The access point is configured to transmit a discovery request frame based on the relay request to at least one relay. Each of the at least one relay is configured to transmit a discovery message based on the discovery request frame to the station. A processor of the station is configured to select one relay of the at least one relay based on each received discovery message. The transmitter is further configured to transmit a message comprising an identification of the selected one relay of the at least one relay to the access point.

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating long packets are described herein. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communication includes a receiver and a processor. The receiver wirelessly receives via wireless local area network a data unit comprising a plurality of training fields interposed between data symbols. The plurality of training fields includes a first training field followed by a second training field. The first training field includes a gain control sequence, and the second training field includes a channel estimation sequence. The processor decodes at least one data symbol based on the plurality of training fields. In another aspect, an apparatus for wireless communication includes a processor and a transmitter. The processor generates a data unit comprising a plurality of training fields inserted between data symbols, and the transmitter wirelessly transmits the data unit via wireless local area network.

Methods and devices for communicating in a communication system are described herein. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of communicating over one or more space-time streams. The method includes transmitting a precoded portion of a first stream with a bandwidth of 1 MHz or less. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least two streams, a precoded portion of a second stream with a cyclic shift delay, relative to the first stream, of 4 μs. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least three streams, a precoded portion of a third stream with a cyclic shift delay, relative to the first stream, of 1 μs. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least four streams, a precoded portion of a fourth stream with a cyclic shift delay, relative to the first stream, of 5 μs.

The disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for early receive chain shutoff using a typified CRC and/or content change indicator signals. In one aspect, a method for low power frame filtering is provided. The method comprises generating a typified checksum based on a transaction identifier and at least a portion of a packet. The method further comprises transmitting, to at least one receiver, the packet comprising the typified checksum.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for the coexistence of 1 MHz and 2 MHz operation modes within a wireless communication system in accordance with IEEE 802.11ah, for example. One example method generally includes scanning a plurality of channel pairs, wherein each of the channel pairs comprises a first channel having a first channel designation and a second channel having a second channel designation; determining, based on the scan, a set of open channels from the plurality of channel pairs in which no other apparatus is operating; selecting a primary channel based on the determination; and transmitting using the selected primary channel. The selection of the primary channel involves channel selection rules disclosed herein.
