Abstract: A sensor has an electrical interconnect grown in a cavity between first and second layers that are bonded together. Electrically conductive grain growth material is selectively deposited on at least one of two electrically conductive film interconnect regions that face one another across the cavity. The grain growth material is then grown upon predetermined conditions to form the electrical interconnect between the two interconnect regions. A sensor element deposited in the cavity is electrically coupled between the layers by the interconnect. The grain growth material can be tantalum that is heated after the layers are bonded to grow grains that interconnect the electrically conductive films.

Abstract: A magnet (16) mounted on a moving stem (12) or rotary member of a valve generates magnetic flux over part of a stationary member (14) of the valve which has a uniquely patterned set of magnetoresistive sense resistors (RSIG0RSIG4) and three reference resistors (130, 134, 148) disposed thereon. The distance between two adjacent patterns can be equally spaced, or can be compressed for valves with non-linear characteristics in order to achieve increased resolution over a specific portion of the valve travel. Other embodiments can use a light source, beta radiation or neutron radiation as the source of flux, the pattern for each embodiment's sensor having some material responsive and some unresponsive to the flux. The sensor (18) can provide feedback representative of position in a valve positioner, or functions as the position sensor in a position transmitter.

The pressure sensor (112) and the feedthrough (122) are mounted such that the secondary metallic process fluid barrier (116) is isolated from process fluid by the first metallic process fluid barrier (116).

Abstract: A pressure sensor capsule with a beam shaped sensor body, made of direct bonded layers of single crystal sapphire, surrounding a hollow central channel. A first beam end receives pressure and a second beam end has electrical contact pads and there is a mounting surface between the ends. The central channel has a narrower width passing through the mounting surface. An isolation plate is brazed to the mounting surface. Pressure sensing film is in the first end with leads extending through the channel to the electrical contact pads. The beam having a notch at the second end, forming an isolated lead surface on the central channel where the electrical contact pads are accessible.
