Abstract: Aparato de grabación de información (1) que comprende: unos medios de identificación (17) para identificar el atributo de ubicación (Clase de Asignación) de información que va a ser grabada en un soporte de grabación de información (10), comprendiendo dicho soporte de grabación de información un área especificada e indicando dicho atributo de ubicación si grabar o no la información en dicha área especificada de dicho soporte de grabación de información (10) y correspondiente al tipo de información que va a ser grabada; y unos medios de grabación (32) para grabar la información en dicha área especificada en dicho soporte de grabación de información (10) si dichos medios de identificación (17) identifican que dicho atributo de ubicación es un atributo de ubicación preestablecido, y también para grabar la dirección de dicha área especificada de dicho soporte de grabación de información (10) en dicho soporte de grabación de información (10) en el que la información de gestión que tiene el atributo de ubicación prestablecido incluye el título de contenido; que comprende además: unos medios de detección (17) para detectar áreas libres continuas en dicha área especificada; unos medios de comparación (17) para comparar el volumen de dicha información con la capacidad total de áreas detectadas por dichos medios de detección; y unos medios de formación (17) para formar, cuando dichos medios de detección detectan que no hay ningún área libre continua en dicha área especificada con capacidad de grabar dicha información y dichos medios de comparación determinan que la capacidad total de áreas detectadas por dichos medios de detección es mayor que el volumen de dicha información, un área libre continua con capacidad de grabar dicha información en dicha área especificada cambiando las ubicaciones de información existente en dicha área especificada de tal manera que la información existente se graba de manera continua.

Abstract: Congested rewriting in the same area is to be evaded to suppress the tendency towards occurrence of defective areas. When a stream 1 has been recorded, the last written address, representing the last written position, is stored. When recording a stream 2 next, recording is started directly following the position indicated by the last written address for the stream 1. The last written address, corresponding to the last address of the recording position, is stored. If the stream 2 is erased for recording a stream 3, recording is started not at a position directly following the last written address of the stream 1, but from a position directly following the last written address of the stream 2. When the stream 3 has reached the end of a recording area, the next following data is recorded as from a position directly following the stream 1.

Abstract: A method is provided for recording video information in which copy control information of video information is managed in the case of copying the content of data from one recording medium to another recording medium. Copy control information (CCI) or a watermark (WM) of an inputted AV stream is detected and whether the content of the copy control information or watermark has changed is determined. Change point information of the copy control information or watermark and the content of the copy control information or watermark are acquired, and management information for managing the copy control information is generated on the basis of the acquired change point information. The generated management information is recorded together with the video information to a recording medium at a copy destination.

Abstract: In a recording medium storing MPEG stream, flag information (encode_condition) indicating that the stream is recorded in a format enabling easily the first stream (MPEG transport stream) to be converted into the second stream (MPEG program stream) is provided. Such as a flag information is included in Tip packet which is a control packet, in the medium. Thus it can easily determine whether the data is recorded in this format without analysis of data stored in the recording medium.

Abstract: For encoding externally input AV signal to MPEG-TS that enables quickly conversion from MPEG-TS to MPEG-PS, data unit (Multiplexing Unit) is defined which includes a plurality of packet and has data size corresponding to data amount of one pack in MPEG-PS, and MPEG-TS is encoded for each defined data unit.
