    Abstract: PURPOSE:To grind a magnetic head into a shape for obtaining an optimum abutment with respect to a magnetic disk by correspondingly arranging the magnetic head and a pad member with a flexible lapping disk sandwiched and abutting the pad member on the lapping disk. CONSTITUTION:A jig supports the magnetic head 1, which is permitted to deal with one side of the flexible lapping disk 4 which is fitted to a spindle 3 in a way that is rotates similarly with the magnetic disk and the pad member 7 is arranged on the opposite side of the magnetic disk 1 with the lapping disk 4 sandwiched. The pad member 7 is abutted on the other surface of the lapping disk 4, and one surface is permitted to abut on the tip surface of the magnetic head in a deformed shape. With the spindle 3, the lapping disk 4 is rotated and the tip surface of the magnetic head is ground. Since the tip surface is ground and generated in a curved surface which is mostly similar to a head abutment deformation when the magnetic disk is recorded and reproduced, satisfactory abutment with respect to the magnetic disk can be obtained, and a highly precise processing formation in the form fitted to the deformation of the magnetic disk can be executed so as to obtain optimum abutment, whereby recording and reproduction can securely be executed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the size of a rotary head by feeding a rotary head whose scanning locus is limited to one of plural sections being divisions of one track in the track width direction, and controlling the height. CONSTITUTION:The scanning locus of a rotary head turned between upper and lower drums 10, 11 by a head motor 17 is limited to one section of one track divided by a channel of 6 sections to a magnetic tape moved while being wound obliquely to the drums 10, 11. Then the height of the head 15 is adjusted via a bimorph plate 18 based on a pilot signal of the channel at the time of reproduction of each section, and the head 15 is on-track at each section. On the other hand, a moving block 12 including the drums 10, 11, the head 15 and the motor 17 is moved by the pulse motor 16 in the broadwise direction of the track, the head 15 is moved to the adjacent section and all sections of one track are reproduced by a small-sized reproducing device whose rotary drum is constituted in a small size.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a tape loading device in which a magnetic tape is not damaged by constituting the device so that a shuttle rail is furnished with a stereoscopic rail and a roller guide is movable in the direction of the axial line. CONSTITUTION:The stereoscopic rail 50 is provided on the shuttle rail 26, and the roller guide 20 mounted on a shuttle block 18 is movable along the axial line. A roller 60 engaging with the magnetic tape is provided in the guide 20, and when the block 18 is run along the rail 26, the roller 60 is moved along the rail 50 while the lower end part is engaging with the rail 50. Consequently, when the guide 20 is passed through the rail 50, the roller 60 is moved in the upward direction along the axial line by the height of rail 50, then the tape can be prevented from deflecting to the position abutting to an upper flange on the guide 20 or getting it over, therefore, the tape loading device in which the magnetic tape is not damaged, can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a smaller head window and to improve the traveling stability of a tape by providing a head chip on the surface on the side opposite from the mounting surface of a head base to a rotary head. CONSTITUTION:Spiral grooves are provided on the rear surface of one of the opposite surfaces of rotary/stationary upper, lower drums 21, 22, for example, the rear surface of the upper drum 21. A head structural body 23 has the head base 24 which is mounted on the rear surface of the upper drum 21, the head chip 25 which is provided on the surface on the side opposite from the mounting surface of this base 24 to the upper drum 21, i.e. the front end part of the surface on the side opposite from the reference plane for mounting of the head onto the upper drum 21, a substrate 26 which is mounted to the mounting base part 24b of the head base 24 formed thinner than the mounting part 24a of this chip 25, and a screw 27 for mounting of the head base 24 onto the rear surface of the upper head 21. Since the head chip 25 is mounted on the surface on the side opposite from the mounting surface of the head base 24 onto the upper drum 21, the height from surface of the lower drum 22 to the head chip 25 is decreased and the formation of the head window 28 to the window smaller than heretofore is possible.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the scratches caused on the outer circumferential surface of a rotary drum or a tape by forming plural grooves parallel to each other and extending in the outer circumferential direction of the drum and increasing the section area of the groove per unit length in the drum axis direction toward a fixed drum. CONSTITUTION:The outer circumferential surface 36 of a rotary drum 6 has a tape form where the diameter increases toward the upper end. While the diameter of the lower end of the taper is approximately equal to the diameter of the circumferential surface 30b of a read part 30 of a drum part 25 of a fixed drum 5. Then the air layer control grooves 39 is formed on the surface 36. These grooves 39 extend circularly and in parallel with each other in the circumferential direction of an outer circumferential surface 31. Furthermore the width and the depth of the groove 39 increase toward the lower surface of the drum 6. When the drum 6 is revolved, the air peripheral to the surface 36 moves following the surface 36 and flows into the space between an outer circumferential surface 24 and a magnetic tape 21. Thus an air film is produced and the thickness of this air film is liable to increase toward the lower side. At the same time, the volume of the air moving to the grooves 39 also increases toward the lower side. Thus the air film has approximately uniform thickness and the tape 21 is set parallel to the surface 36.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the high density recording by scanning the preceding recording track by a reproducing head disposed with a step difference equivalent to a track pitch as against a recording head. CONSTITUTION:The title device is provided with plural recording magnetic heads 11A-11D and one reproducing magnetic head 12 disposed with the step difference equivalent to the track pitch on a magnetic tape T as against these recording magnetic heads 11A-11D, and at the time of recording, the preceding recording track formed by the recording magnetic heads 11A-11D is scanned by the reproducing magnetic heads 12 to obtain a reproducing output, and then the traveling of the magnetic tape T is hence controlled by this reproducing output. By this method, even at the time of recording, a tracking servo control is performed, so that the high density recording is feasible.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify a device by engaging a guide rod with the sleeve for guiding which is served as a tape guide as well and supported at a stationary side, and guiding a head drum movably in an axial direction by the sleeve for guiding. CONSTITUTION:A guide rod 16 is engaged with the sleeve 18 for guiding, the sleeve 18 serves as a tape guide as well and is supported by a chassis 19. A magnetic tape 25 is hung over 180 deg. on the outer peripheral face of a head drum 10 and subjected to a constant speed running. The drum 10 is driven by being rotated with the motor inside a stationary drum 13, and a magnetic head 12 abuts in opposition to the magnetic tape 25 which is hung over on the outer peripheral face of the drum 10. A feeding screw 21 is driven by a motor 22 by synchronizing with the rotary movement of this drum 10 and a base 14 is moved in the axial direction accordingly. The head drum 10 supported via the stationary drum 13 by the base 14 is made to move in the axial direction and a parallel scanning is thus achieved.
