Abstract: Thermal stress is prevented from accumulating on a disk recording medium (1). Data to be recorded is divided into 32-kilobyte clusters, and a front link area and a back link area, whose lengths are randomly changed, formed of a total of 8 frames are added before and after the clusters. Then, the data is recorded on a predetermined area of a disk on the basis of address data prerecorded on the disk.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a disc recording medium, a recording apparatus and a playback apparatus, more concretely, the present invention provides a disc recording medium wherein a circular track is created in advance to be used for recording data as a groove or a land, said track is wobbled to contain approximately fixed number of wobbling periods as counted in a longitudinal direction of said track, and said track includes rotational-angle marks each showing a predetermined rotational angular position on said disc recording medium. As a result, the precision and the reliability of recording can be attained.

Abstract: The information storage disc has ID storage areas (41H) formed in predetermined locations in the radial direction of the disc, the ID storage areas storing either sector or track numbers (resp. 40,41) previously and magnetically. In this setup, if the read head (30) is dislodged from the center line of a given track (10), the read head still reads the sector number correctly. The information recording and reproducing apparatus has the read head (30) and the write head (31) arranged so that they are positioned on a given intermediate track in a substantially aligned manner. With the write head positioned on a given track, the read head is dislodged from that track only by a negligible distance. This allows the read head to read sector and track numbers unfailingly from the disc.

Abstract: A data pattern generator generates pattern data corresponding to a pre-formatted data pattern and supplies the pattern data to a disc-like recording medium producing apparatus for forming the pre-formatted data pattern, such as clock information, servo information and read-out information in a disc-like recording medium. The data pattern generator includes a first memory unit for storing therein as a data array at least part of a data pattern formed on a disc-like recording medium, and a second memory unit for storing therein an order for outputting the data array or a coordinate for outputting the data array. The data array is re-arrayed in accordance with an angle of rotation of the disc-like recording medium and then is output. The pattern data generator also includes a first memory unit for storing therein as a two-dimensional data array at least part of a data pattern formed on a disc-like recording medium, and a second memory unit for storing therein an order for outputting the data array or a coordinate for outputting the data array. The data array is re-arrayed in accordance with an angle of rotation of the disc-like recording medium and a radius of the same and is then output. These data pattern generators may include a delay unit for adding a predetermined delay quantity to the data array in accordance with a radius of the recording medium.

Abstract: There are provided a spindle motor 12, an optical head 20, a high-pass filter 31, low-pass filters 32 and 33, an adder 38, and a PLL 39. The spindle motor 12 rotatively drives an optical disk 11. The optical head 20 irradiates a laser beam onto a target track and both tracks adjacent to the target track on the optical disk 11 and detects a return light from each track. The high-pass filter 31 filters a high-frequency component in a signal used for detecting a return light from a target track in the optical head 20. Each of the low-pass filters 32 and 33 filters a low-frequency component in a signal used for detecting a return light from each of the adjacent tracks. The adder 38 operates output signals from the high-pass filter 31, and the low-pass filters 32 and 33. Based on a signal from the adder 38, the PLL 39 generates a reference signal used as a time reference for generating recording signals. An operation by the adder 38 nullifies a cross modulation component.
