    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing head for color printing whose manufacture can be simplified while a print image is prevented from being qualitatively deteriorated, and a manufacturing method therefore. SOLUTION: In the printing head 40 and a manufacturing method therefor, ink flow paths 41A-41C are formed, in a specified positional relationship, in a flow path plate 4. Consequently, it is possible to easily match the positions of nozzles 43 per each of the ink flow paths 41A-41C with high precision based on the flow path plate 41 as a reference. Thus the manufacture of the printing head 40 can be simplified while a print image is prevented from being qualitatively deteriorated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify manufacturing by boring a through hole to a plate-like member and cutting a channel plate from the plate-like member all at once. SOLUTION: One face 52A of a glass plate 52 is powder beam processed with a second resist layer 54 used as a mask, thereby forming a plurality of through holes 52E which become through hole-shaped ink channel parts of a channel plate 41 and a plurality of second through holes 52F which become positioning pin insertion holes. At the same time, an inside part of the glass plate 52 is cut off correspondingly to each third opening part 54C of the resist layer 54. As a result, every one sheet of the channel plate 41 is separately formed corresponding to each ink channel 52D like a recessed part of the glass plate 52. Subsequently, the glass plate 52 is cleaned in a state where the glass plate is attached to a substrate 50, thereby removing the resist layer 54 from on the one face 52A. A heat release sheet 51 is heated to foam the side of one face 51A, and then each channel plate 41 is released separately from the sheet 51.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacture of nozzle while reducing the diameter and increasing the density thereof by forming pressure chambers and nozzles integrally in a channel plate. SOLUTION: A channel plate 41 of ink jet print head 40 is made by forming nozzles 41F and pressure chambers 41C integrally on one side of a glass plate by powder beam machining. A print head 40 is manufactured by pasting a piezoelectric actuator 42 comprising a diaphragm 43 and piezoelectric actuators 44, while positioning, onto one side 41A of the channel plate 41. According to the method, highly accurate positioning work of the nozzle plate and the channel plate can be eliminated and clogging of the nozzle 41F due to leakage of adhesive can be prevented. Furthermore, the pressure chambers 41C and the nozzle 41F can be formed finely and precisely without causing fluctuation in the width, length or depth of the channel plate 41. This method can deal sufficiently with formation of small diameter high density nozzles while facilitating manufacture.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a diaphragm thin with no anxiety of handling by employing single plate structure of laminate plate structure in a channel plate having one side provided with a pressure chamber for storing ink in the form of a recess of specified shape. SOLUTION: One side 50A of a glass plate 50 is coated with a dry film 51 which is exposed through a mask 52 and developed to form an opening 51A corresponding to the profile of ink channel of a channel plate 41 in the film 51. One side 50A of a glass plate 50 exposed from the opening 51A is then etched by a powder beam machining unit using the film 51 as a mask thus forming a recess 50C of specified shape defined by the ink channel of the channel plate 41. Subsequently, the film 51 is removed from one side 50A by cleaning the glass plate 50 thus obtaining the channel plate 41. Piezoelectric elements 42 are pasted onto respective pressure chamber forming parts 41A on one side 41A of the channel plate 41 and a nozzle plate 43 is pasted, while being positioned, to the other side 41B.

When performing a series of discharge steps including a first step (A-B) to expand the ink chamber and draw a meniscus in the nozzle opening into an ink chamber direction, a second step (B-C) to fill the ink chamber with the ink and move the meniscus into a nozzle opening direction and a third step (C-D) to contract the ink chamber to eject the ink droplet, a velocity at which the periodic position of the meniscus changes at the point of time when the third step starts, is appropriately selected, and thereby, the velocity at which the ink droplet to be ejected in the third steps airborne, is controlled.
